**Trade Closed — TS Update #1 Triggered**The LIN position was opened when price broke out of the consolidation box and confirmed that the structure was ready to move.
The breakout produced a strong continuation and carried the stock to new highs. However, the subsequent pullback reached the trailing-stop level established in TS Update #1 on July 21, closing the position according to plan.
This trade highlights one of the uncomfortable realities of trend following: we will rarely exit at the exact top.
A trailing stop can only be raised when price forms a new structure that provides a defensible risk level. Until that structure appears, the position must be given enough room to move—and sometimes that means surrendering part of the open profit during a sharp pullback.
The objective is not to capture every dollar between entry and the highest price. The objective is to participate in the trend while consistently respecting the level that tells us when to step aside.
Sector strength identified the opportunity.
The box breakout triggered the entry.
The trailing stop determined the exit.
