GOLD H4: Friday sell-off, 3,915–3,924 caps the bounce

99
Context

On H4, gold has been in a bearish structure since the October range broke down on 22/10. The failed breakout at 4,082.7 on 28/10 was followed by a series of lower highs, and on Friday the sell-off accelerated: price lost 3,965 – 3,990 and dropped almost 120 points to 3,870.2, closing the week near the lows at 3,875.8.

Current structure

The week opened with a small gap up at 3,888.9, leaving a 3,876 – 3,889 weekend gap below. In Asia buyers pushed to 3,919.2, right into 3,915 – 3,924, the area where Friday's breakdown candle closed. Sellers rejected that level and gold is now back around 3,893, just above the gap. The structure is still lower highs and lower lows, and 3,919 is the first lower high of the week. The current H4 candle has not closed yet.

Key levels

🔴 3,965 – 3,990: resistance, origin of Friday's sell-off
🔴 3,915 – 3,924: resistance, Friday's breakdown close and today's Asian high
⚪ 3,876 – 3,889: weekend gap
🟢 3,862 – 3,876: support, Friday's low and weekly close
⚪ 3,840 – 3,850: target below the lows, liquidity

Scenarios

🔴 Bearish: 3,915 – 3,924 keeps capping price, the gap fills and an H4 close below 3,862 → move toward 3,840 – 3,850. Invalidation: H4 close above 3,924.

🟢 Bullish: the gap fills and 3,862 – 3,876 holds as a higher low, then an H4 close above 3,924 → recovery toward 3,965 – 3,990. Invalidation: H4 close below 3,862.

Summary

Gold starts the week under pressure after Friday's 120-point drop, and the first bounce already stalled at 3,915 – 3,924. As long as that zone caps price, the weekend gap and Friday's low at 3,870 remain in focus; an H4 close above 3,924 would open a deeper retracement toward 3,965 – 3,990.
