BRIAN XAUUSD – NFP WEAKNESS LIFTS GOLD, BUT NEXT WEEK IS STILL A VALUE-AREA GAME
Gold jumped over 1% after the US Non-Farm Payrolls report showed a loss of 92K jobs and unemployment rose to 4.4%. That shift pushed rate-cut expectations higher (around 43 bps priced in), which is supportive for gold in the short term as the market leans towards easier policy.
That said, XAUUSD is still tracking a weaker week overall because a firm US dollar and elevated yields continue to cap upside. Going into next week, the clean approach is to trade what price accepts or rejects around the Volume Profile value zones.

Price is currently trading between two major value references:
VAH – Medium-term selling zone (premium): ~5.28–5.32
This is the upper edge of value where rallies often meet supply. If gold can’t hold above this area, sellers typically regain control fast.
High-liquidity long-term buy zone (core value): ~4.88–4.95
This is the key support band. If price rotates back into this zone, it’s where absorption and base-building are most likely to appear.
VAL – Short-term reaction zone (deep support): ~4.70–4.74
This becomes relevant only if price breaks down hard and the market accepts lower levels.
Next week scenarios
Scenario 1: Rally into VAH, then rejection
If price pushes into 5.28–5.32 but fails to hold above it, expect a rotation back down towards 4.88–4.95 as the market rebalances.
Scenario 2: Break and acceptance above VAH
If price breaks 5.28–5.32 and holds with strong daily acceptance, the market shifts from rebound to continuation. The cleaner entry is the retest of VAH as support, not chasing the first push.
Scenario 3: Pullback into the long-term buy zone
If price rotates into 4.88–4.95 and buyers absorb (clean hold, strong response), this is the highest-quality area to rebuild longs for a move back towards VAH.
Risk scenario: Flush into VAL
If 4.88–4.95 breaks and price fails to reclaim it, downside acceleration becomes likely, with 4.70–4.74 as the next reaction zone.
