NY 9:30-9:35 Open Range

his indicator automatically plots the New York Opening Range based on the first 5 minutes of the session (09:30–09:35 NY time) — one of the most important liquidity and price-discovery periods of the trading day.
What it displays
- Opening Range Box (09:30–09:35)
Highlights the high and low formed during the first 5 minutes after the NY market opens.
High & Low Extensions Horizontal projection lines extending the opening range forward for a user-defined number of hours.
Midpoint (50%) Level, A dotted line marking the midpoint of the range, useful for balance, mean-reversion, and confirmation setups.

v2.0 – Update Notes• Customizable range time: Start and End hour/minute inputs now let you define any open range window (default keeps the original 9:30–9:35 NY).
• Fixed extension hours: Lines now extend correctly from the start of the range box. Setting 1 hour with a 9:30 open will always reach exactly 10:30, regardless of timeframe.
• Timeframe-aware calculation: Extension is no longer hardcoded for 5-min charts. It dynamically adapts to any timeframe (1m, 3m, 5m, 15m, etc.) using the chart's actual bar duration.
• Box transparency control: New input to adjust the fill opacity of the range box independently from the border color (0 = fully opaque, 100 = invisible).

v3.0 – Update Notes🎨 Independent line styling
Outer lines (High & Low) and the Mid line now have separate controls for color, width, and style (Solid / Dashed / Dotted). Customize each one independently to suit your setup.
⚙️ Reorganized settings panel
All inputs are now grouped into clearly labeled sections for a cleaner and faster configuration experience:
• ⏰ Range Time – define your custom open range window
• 📦 Box Settings – border color, width, and fill transparency
• 📅 History – toggle previous days and control how many to show
• 📏 Extension – set how many hours the lines extend from the open
• 📈 Outer Lines (High & Low) – style the high and low extension lines
• ➖ Mid Line – style the midpoint line independently

v3.1 – Hotfix: Range bar count was off by oneA bug was found where setting a 9:30–9:35 range was rendering 6 bars instead of the expected 5.
Root cause: In TradingView, each bar's timestamp represents when the bar STARTS, not when it ends. So the 09:35 bar starts at 09:35 and closes at 09:36 — meaning it belongs to the next period and should not be included in a 9:30–9:35 range. On top of that, TradingView's time() function already treats the end of a session string as exclusive. A previous fix had added +1 minute to the end time trying to capture the last candle, but this was unnecessary and was actually forcing the 09:35 bar into the range, causing the extra bar.
In TradingView, the bar timestamp is when the bar starts. So a 1m bar labeled 09:35 runs from 09:35 to 09:36. That means:
09:30 bar → starts at 09:30 ✅ inside range
09:31 bar → starts at 09:31 ✅ inside range
09:32 bar → starts at 09:32 ✅ inside range
09:33 bar → starts at 09:33 ✅ inside range
09:34 bar → starts at 09:34 ✅ inside range
09:35 bar → starts at 09:35 ❌ this is the 6th bar, should be excluded
Fix: Removed the +1 minute offset. The session string now uses the exact end time the user inputs, which correctly excludes the closing bar and produces the right bar count.

v4.0 – Update Notes🎯 Standard Deviation Levels
The levels system has been completely redesigned around standard deviations of the opening range. The first 4 levels are enabled by default following the classic SD pattern:
• 0.5 SD – Dotted, subtle gray (half-step reference)
• 1.0 SD – Solid, neutral blue-gray (key level)
• 1.5 SD – Dotted, subtle gray (half-step reference)
• 2.0 SD – Solid, neutral blue-gray (key level)
Levels 5–10 are pre-configured (2.5 → 5.0 in 0.5 steps) and disabled by default, ready to activate at any time.
💡 Tip: Use Fibonacci levels instead
Since every level multiplier is fully editable, you can replace the standard deviation values with your preferred Fibonacci extensions. For example:
• Level 1 → 0.5
• Level 2 → 1.0
• Level 3 → 1.272
• Level 4 → 1.618
• Level 5 → 2.0
• Level 6 → 2.618
The levels system is completely flexible — use whatever methodology fits your trading style.
🎨 Neutral color palette
Default level colors are designed to work on both dark and light backgrounds without interfering with price action. Half-step levels use a softer gray to keep the chart clean and uncluttered.
🏷️ Level General Settings
A new Levels General group controls all level labels at once: show/hide toggle, label size, and label position (Left or Right end of the line). Labels always display positive multiplier values on both the upper and lower projections.
🐛 Hotfix: Object limit crash
Fixed a critical bug where enabling many levels with multiple days caused the indicator to crash or stop rendering. Root cause: TradingView defaults to a limit of 50 lines and 50 labels unless explicitly declared higher. The indicator now declares max_lines_count=500, max_labels_count=500, and max_boxes_count=500, resolving all rendering failures even with all 10 levels and 20 history days active simultaneously.
