ICT 10AM First FVG Daily Strategy

ICT 10AM First FVG Daily Strategy
A rule-based New York session strategy built around the first confirmed Fair Value Gap formed from the 10:00 AM candle onward.
Strategy Overview
The strategy identifies one setup per New York trading day. It records the 10:00 AM opening price, waits for the first valid three-candle Fair Value Gap, and places a limit order at the FVG’s first-touch boundary.
Both bullish and bearish setups are supported.
FVG Timing Rule
The middle, or displacement, candle of the FVG must begin at or after 10:00 AM New York time.
Only the first confirmed FVG of the day is used. Later FVGs are ignored even when the first setup remains unfilled.
Long Setup
Short Setup
Target Calculation
While the limit order is waiting, each newly completed pre-entry candle may update the directional target.
The candle in which the entry is filled is excluded from target calculation. This prevents the strategy from using price movement that occurs after or during the first-touch entry.
Order Management
The complete protective bracket is prepared together with the pending entry:
The TP and SL are linked to the entry and become active as soon as the limit order fills. Pyramiding is disabled, and the strategy allows only one setup per New York trading day.
Session Protection
Chart Visuals
The strategy can display:
All visual levels stop at the actual TP or SL candle. No line or FVG box is extended indefinitely after the trade is completed.
Non-Repainting Design
FVGs are accepted only after the third candle has closed and the structure is confirmed. The script does not use future bar references, request.security(), or look-ahead settings.
Normal historical testing and Bar Magnifier testing produced identical trades across the validated MNQ 1-minute test window. Same-candle entry and exit behavior may still depend on TradingView’s historical broker-emulator assumptions.
Configuration
Users can configure:
Important Notice
This strategy is intended for research, backtesting and educational use. Historical performance does not guarantee future results. Commission, spread, slippage, contract specifications and real execution conditions should be configured and independently evaluated before live use.

- The 09:59–10:00–10:01 structure is valid.
- The 09:58–09:59–10:00 structure is rejected.
- Structures beginning with the 10:00 candle or later are valid.
Only the first confirmed FVG of the day is used. Later FVGs are ignored even when the first setup remains unfilled.
Long Setup
- The first confirmed bullish FVG is selected.
- A buy limit order is placed at the FVG’s first-touch boundary.
- The stop-loss is positioned below the displacement candle’s low.
- The take-profit is set at the highest directional extreme formed after 10:00 AM and before entry.
Short Setup
- The first confirmed bearish FVG is selected.
- A sell limit order is placed at the FVG’s first-touch boundary.
- The stop-loss is positioned above the displacement candle’s high.
- The take-profit is set at the lowest directional extreme formed after 10:00 AM and before entry.
- Entry: limit order
- Take-profit: limit order
- Stop-loss: stop order
The TP and SL are linked to the entry and become active as soon as the limit order fills. Pyramiding is disabled, and the strategy allows only one setup per New York trading day.
Session Protection
- Pending orders are cancelled at the configured session ending time.
- Open positions can optionally be closed at session end.
- Friday and weekend protection can prevent new setups near the market transition.
- The default Friday protection time is 15:45 New York time.
Chart Visuals
The strategy can display:
- The 10:00 AM opening level
- The first valid FVG zone
- Entry, stop-loss and take-profit levels
All visual levels stop at the actual TP or SL candle. No line or FVG box is extended indefinitely after the trade is completed.
Non-Repainting Design
FVGs are accepted only after the third candle has closed and the structure is confirmed. The script does not use future bar references, request.security(), or look-ahead settings.
Normal historical testing and Bar Magnifier testing produced identical trades across the validated MNQ 1-minute test window. Same-candle entry and exit behavior may still depend on TradingView’s historical broker-emulator assumptions.
Configuration
Users can configure:
- New York setup starting hour
- Session cancellation and closing hour
- Fixed contract quantity
- Long and short permissions
- Friday and weekend protection
- FVG and trade-level visibility
Important Notice
This strategy is intended for research, backtesting and educational use. Historical performance does not guarantee future results. Commission, spread, slippage, contract specifications and real execution conditions should be configured and independently evaluated before live use.

Update NameICT 10AM First FVG Daily Strategy — Execution & Margin Reliability
Update Notes
FVG Detection and Entry Timing
- The 10:00 AM candle can now serve as the displacement candle of the first valid FVG.
- FVGs formed between 09:59 and 10:01 are accepted, while structures whose displacement candle occurs before 10:00 remain excluded.
- Corrected limit-order timing to prevent entries from being delayed by an additional bar.
- The latest completed pre-entry high or low is now included when determining the trade target.
Order and Exit Execution
- TP and SL orders are submitted together with the pending limit entry, allowing the complete bracket to become active immediately after the entry fills.
- Improved same-bar TP and SL handling to prevent exits from appearing one bar late.
- Long and short setups now use the same entry, stop-loss and target lifecycle.
- Only one setup can be traded per New York trading day.
Chart and Drawing Cleanup
- Entry, stop-loss, target and FVG drawings now terminate at the actual exit candle.
- Corrected drawings that previously stopped one bar early or continued indefinitely after the trade ended.
- Removed duplicate overlapping price levels.
- Removed custom chart labels for a cleaner chart presentation.
Margin and Contract Safety
- Added futures margin support with 100x leverage as the default configuration.
- Long and short leverage can be adjusted directly from the Strategy Properties panel.
- Added an “Insufficient margin” warning when price reaches a pending limit order but the broker emulator cannot execute it.
- The warning follows the actual order-execution result, allowing leverage changes without relying on a separate fixed-margin input.
Validation
- The strategy was validated on both NQ1! and MNQ1! using one-minute chart data.
- NQ one-contract and MNQ two-contract order execution were verified.
- Normal and insufficient-margin scenarios were tested separately.
- Bar Magnifier comparison produced identical trade counts and results.

Minimum FVG Size & Custom Risk-to-RewardUpdate Notes
Thanks to octopusprime97 for suggesting minimum FVG size and customizable risk-to-reward settings.
Minimum FVG Size
- Added Min FVG Size with Points and Ticks options.
- FVGs below the configured minimum are skipped. The first confirmed FVG meeting the size and timing requirements becomes the daily setup.
- Set the minimum to 0 to disable size filtering and retain the original selection behavior.
Exit Type & Risk-to-Reward
- Added an Exit Type selector with Session extreme and Fixed RR options.
- Session extreme preserves the original target calculation using the directional extreme formed before entry.
- Fixed RR calculates the target from the entry-to-stop distance and your chosen Risk to Reward value. For example, 2 targets a 1:2 risk-to-reward ratio.
- The stop-loss remains at the displacement candle’s opposite extreme. Targets are rounded to the symbol’s tick size.
- The Risk to Reward field becomes editable only when Fixed RR is selected.
Default Settings
- Min FVG Size defaults to 0 and Exit Type defaults to Session extreme, preserving the original behavior.
- Increasing the minimum FVG size can reduce trade opportunities.
