Trend Volume Profile and Rolling POC [BigBeluga] is an indicator that builds a dynamic volume profile anchored to the current trend and tracks its rolling Point of Control (POC). It solves the problem of fixed-session profiles by generating an adaptive volume profile from the moment a trend begins, allowing traders to see exactly where volume is concentrated within the active trend leg.

Trend Volume Profile and Rolling POC [BigBeluga] is an indicator that builds a dynamic volume profile anchored to the current trend and tracks its rolling Point of Control (POC). It solves the problem of fixed-session profiles by generating an adaptive volume profile from the moment a trend begins, allowing traders to see exactly where volume is concentrated within the active trend leg.
🔵 HOW IT WORKS
The indicator identifies trend shifts, builds a custom volume profile for the active trend, and tracks a rolling POC line:
1 — Trend Engine
- Basis & Bands: Calculates a central moving average and surrounds it with ATR-based upper and lower bands. You can customize this using the MA Type (SMA, EMA, WMA, HMA, RMA, VWMA), MA Length, ATR Length, and ATR Multiplier.
- Trend Direction: Flips bullish when price closes above the upper band and bearish when it closes below the lower band.
- Anchoring: The start of each trend leg resets the volume profile and becomes the anchor point for all drawings, marked by a "BULL" or "BEAR" label (size adjustable via the Trend Anchor Label Size input).
2 — Dynamic Volume Profile
- Volume Binning: Splits the trend's price range into bins based on a fraction of the ATR. The vertical resolution is controlled by the Bin Size Multiplier (lower values create smaller, more detailed bins).
- Volume Distribution: Instead of assigning a whole candle's volume to a single price, volume is distributed proportionally across all bins the candle spans. This creates a much more accurate profile.
- Gradient Rendering: Draws horizontal boxes from the trend start, scaling their width and opacity by volume, and coloring them with a gradient. You can completely customize the look using the Bullish/Bearish Profile Base and Top color inputs.
3 — Rolling POC & Table
- POC Tracking: Plots a glowing, dotted polyline tracking the highest-volume price bin as the trend progresses. This feature, along with its label, can be toggled via Show Rolling POC Polyline, with colors set by the Rolling POC Color input.
- POC Label: Displays the POC volume value at the current bar, with its size adjustable via the POC Label Size input.
- Trend Dashboard: A built-in table (toggleable via Show Trend Progression Table) shows trend status, duration, total trend volume, volume delta, and buy/sell percentage, styled with your chosen Up/Down Trend Colors.
🔵 HOW TO USE
Beyond viewing volume distribution, the indicator can be applied in several ways:
- Trade the POC: Use the rolling POC line as a dynamic support or resistance level within the trend — price often reacts to it.
- Gauge Trend Strength: Use the dashboard's volume delta and buy/sell percentages to see if the current trend is backed by aggressive buying or selling.
- Spot Value Areas: Use the widest volume profile bars to identify where the market accepted price during the trend.
- Confirm Trend Flips: Use the BULL and BEAR anchor labels as confirmation of a new trend leg and a reset of the profile.
- Tune Resolution: Adjust the Bin Size Multiplier to make the profile finer (more detail) or coarser (broader view).
