Session Range & Expansion
A general-purpose tool for measuring session range expansion relative to a historical baseline.
The indicator tracks the high-low range of a selected trading session and compares it with the average range of previous sessions.
The current environment is classified into four regimes: Compressed, Normal, Expanding, and Extreme Expansion.
Session high and low levels can also be displayed directly on the chart for additional context.
I designed this as a market research tool for observing changes in trading activity and identifying periods when range expansion becomes significantly different from normal conditions.
It can be applied across forex, commodities, indices, and crypto markets.
This indicator is intended for market research and analysis, not as a standalone trading signal.
