British Pound Futures: Conditional pullback hold before BoE risk

14
A long 6B setup is only attractive on a pullback, not on a chase. Sterling has already rallied hard after the post-election Dollar drop, but the useful edge is that short GBP ownership remains heavy while tomorrow's BoE decision can still validate hawkish-risk hedges.

Where the edge is
The mechanism is positioning pressure into a timed policy catalyst. Asset-manager futures positioning is still heavily short GBP versus USD, so a held dip before the BoE can force late shorts to defend or cover.

Evidence
Spot GBP/USD has vaulted its 200-day average and trend barrier, while market colour links the move to post-election Dollar weakness and lower US yields. Institutional desks flag hawkish-guidance risk from Thursday's BoE decision, but others warn that a dovish hike could cap sterling and that GBP may underperform non-Dollar currencies. That mix supports a 6B dip-buying plan only if price proves the breakout area is now support.

Trade idea
Buy 6B only if spot GBP/USD pulls back into 1.3424/1.3439 and holds. Use a spot close below 1.3381 as the invalidation reference. Initial spot resistance sits at 1.3501, then 1.3547, so chasing above the current area leaves poor reward before the next decision points.
