Apple Reportedly Developing Enterprise AI Server With Unreleased M8 Ultra Chips

Apple is reportedly developing an enterprise AI server that could use two to four unreleased M8 Ultra processors and target AI developers, large enterprises, and government agencies for AI inference. According to ChainCatcher, the edge data center product may also adopt NVLink, while Apple and NVIDIA have not responded to the reports.

Supply chain sources said Apple entered the related business as Mac systems have been widely used as personal AI workstations, with Mac revenue rising nearly 30% in the latest quarter. According to ChainCatcher, Apple has also been buying large amounts of NVIDIA chips and Google TPUs for its own AI data centers and has been reported to be working with Broadcom on in-house AI chips.

The reports also said Qualcomm's Dragonfly product line includes an edge AI inference rack-scale solution. Separately, Xiaomi is said to be planning an edge AI rack strategy after unveiling its AI Cube personal AI workstation concept, which reportedly integrates three in-house chips: Xuanjie O3, O100, and D100. Supply chain sources also said TSMC is expected to play a key role in advanced process and advanced packaging.
