Market Open Prep Dashboard

117
OVERVIEW
Market Open Prep Dashboard is a pre-market and market-open reference table for CME futures traders. It collects the numbers many traders check before the open (volatility budget, gap, overnight range, VIX, and opening range) into one customizable table on the chart. It is an information display only. It does not generate buy or sell signals.

The script is designed for CME futures symbols and must be used on an intraday chart. All session times are in CME Central Time.

AUTOMATIC MARKET DETECTION
By default the script reads the chart's futures symbol and picks the matching market preset, so the open, gap, Globex window, and opening range follow the contract you are viewing:
- Equity Index (ES, NQ, YM, RTY and micros)
- Gold / Metals (GC, SI, HG and micros)
- Crude / Energy (CL, NG, RB, HO and micros)
- Treasuries (ZN, ZB, ZF, ZT)
- Currencies (6E, 6J, 6B and others)
- Grains (ZC, ZS, ZW and others)
- Livestock (LE, HE, GF)
You can also choose a preset manually, or use Custom to enter your own regular-session hours. A fallback preset is used for symbols that are not recognized.

WHAT THE TABLE SHOWS

Daily ATR
- Daily ATR using the prior completed day's value (length is adjustable, default 14), so it is already known before the open and does not repaint.
- ATR High and ATR Low: the reference price plus and minus one daily ATR. The reference is the opening price once the regular session has started, and the prior close before the open (this can be turned off).
- ATR Used and ATR Left, as points and as a percent of ATR. "Used" can be calculated three ways: net move from the open, maximum extension from the open, or day range (high minus low).

Open / Gap
- Opening price, prior regular-session close, and the gap between them in points, percent of price, and percent of ATR. Before the open, a live indicative gap is shown using the current price.

VIX
- Prior VIX close, VIX at the open (with change versus the prior close), and current VIX (with change since the open). Values turn orange at or above a user-set level (default 22) and red at or above a second level (default 25). Arrows show direction of change. The VIX symbol is selectable.

Globex
- High, low, and range of the Globex session (1700 CT to the regular-session open), with the range shown as a percent of daily ATR.

Opening Range
- High, low, and range of the first 15 minutes after the regular-session open, with the range as a percent of daily ATR. The opening range is calculated from 1-minute data internally, so it covers exactly the first 15 minutes regardless of the chart's timeframe.
- On Currencies charts, a second London opening range is shown (default 0200-0215 CT) in addition to the US opening range. The London session is an input.

HOW IT WORKS
- Sessions are detected from the selected or automatically chosen preset and the timezone input (default America/Chicago). The preset sets the regular-session open and close. The Globex window runs from 1700 CT to that open. The preset times are conventional session opens, not hours published by the exchange, and can be overridden with Custom. Confirm them against your exchange's current hours.
- Daily ATR and prior-day VIX values come from request.security() calls using the previous completed day, so they are not affected by lookahead on the current day.
- The table and levels update on the latest bar. A new Globex session start resets the day's state.

CUSTOMIZATION
- Table position (nine locations), text size, background and transparency, title, section, label and value colors, gap and VIX direction colors, border and frame colors and widths.
- Each block (ATR, Open/Gap, VIX, Globex, Opening Range, London Opening Range) can be shown or hidden.
- Optional chart lines: ATR High/Low, Globex High/Low, Opening Range High/Low, and London Opening Range High/Low.
- VIX thresholds and colors are adjustable.

NOTES AND LIMITATIONS
- Use on intraday charts only. On daily or higher timeframes the table shows a message instead of data.
- Opening range history depends on how much 1-minute data your TradingView plan provides.
- VIX data is subject to your data subscription and may be delayed. VIX "at open" is the value at the open time of the selected market preset, so for sessions that open before VIX is calculated it may be empty or stale.
- The London opening range uses a fixed Central Time window. London's clock change differs from the US one for about a week in spring and fall, so adjust the London session input during those weeks.
- Past values do not predict future results. This indicator is a reference tool, not a recommendation to buy or sell anything, and it is not financial advice.
