Fixed EMAs (Any Chart)

268
Fixed Timeframe EMAs plots exponential moving averages from any timeframe you choose directly on your current chart. Your daily 21 EMA or 4H 50 EMA stays at the same price levels whether you’re on the 1-minute, 5-minute, or 1-hour chart.

What it does

A normal 50 EMA is calculated on the chart you’re viewing, so it changes every time you switch timeframes. This indicator pulls the EMA from a fixed higher timeframe, so the levels that matter stay visible while you refine entries on a lower one.

How it works

Each EMA is calculated on its selected timeframe using request.security() and drawn on your current chart. Repainting is controlled with lookahead off, so the values you see on historical bars match what you would have seen in real time. The higher-timeframe EMA updates live as the current higher-timeframe candle develops.

Features

4 independent EMAs, each with its own length, timeframe, color, and line width
Choose a stepped look (true higher-timeframe values) or a smoothed line
Optional labels showing each EMA’s length and timeframe
Optional alerts when price crosses any of the EMAs
Works on any symbol and any chart timeframe

How to use it

Add the indicator to your chart.
Open Settings and set the length and timeframe for each EMA (for example 9 EMA on 15m, 50 EMA on 1H, 200 EMA on 1D).
Trade on whatever timeframe you prefer. The EMAs stay locked to their selected timeframes.

Ideas for use

Watch for pullbacks into a higher-timeframe EMA as possible areas of support or resistance.
Check trend alignment: price above stacked fixed EMAs suggests an uptrend, and below suggests a downtrend.
Use confluence between multiple fixed EMAs to spot stronger zones.
Combine with your own price action, volume, and risk management.

Notes

If you select a timeframe lower than your chart timeframe, TradingView will show the value from the chart’s own resolution. Set EMAs to the chart timeframe or higher.
Results will differ slightly between sessions and symbols because of how each exchange handles its data.
