Last 25 Periods Volume Decline Count

1 223
Last 25 Periods Volume Decline Count by CANSLIM Research

This indicator applies the Investor's Business Daily (IBD) theory of distribution days by tracking institutional selling within a rolling 25-day window to identify potential market tops or severe corrections.

Core Features

Highlight Zone: A soft grey background and horizontal line visually mark the exact 25-period lookback window directly on your chart.

Cumulative Counting: Numbers above the bars track distribution days where the closing price was lower than the previous day with strictly higher volume.

Dynamic Cleanup: As the chart moves forward, any counts older than 25 days are automatically removed to keep historical price action uncluttered.

Reading the Warning Levels & Action Rules

Days 1 to 4 (Gray text): Routine market noise or mild selling pressure.

Day 5 (Yellow text with 💀): Elevated risk. If you count 5 distribution signals within a 25-day trading window and the stock price cannot quickly recover above all its key moving average lines, be highly cautious.

Day 6 (Orange text with 💀): High risk. Strict Exit Rule: If after 5 distribution days, the stock price or index cannot recover above all key Simple Moving Averages (SMAs) by the sixth day, sell all positions no matter the reason.

Day 7+ (Red text with 💀): Critical danger. Indicates sustained institutional distribution and a high probability of a severe market correction.

Versionshinweise
Added a 25-day span line to measure the net slope of closing prices across the lookback window. Exercise extreme caution if the slope flips from positive to negative near or on the 5th distribution day.

Updates

### 1. Shaded Area Between Highest & Lowest Bars Only

* **What it does:** Instead of coloring the background across the entire 25-day column uniformly, the script now dynamically scans the 25-day lookback window to find the **highest high** and **lowest low**.
* **Visual Span Options:** Under input group *2. 25D Shaded Box & Stats*, you can choose between:
* **Full 25-Day Period:** Shades the entire lookback block from start to finish.
* **Between Highest & Lowest Bars Only:** Restricts the shaded box horizontally so it only spans from the exact bar where the highest high occurred to the bar where the lowest low occurred.

* **Customization:** Full control over fill color, opacity, border color, and border thickness.

### 2. Summary Badge with % Drop & Up/Down Volume Ratio

* **What it does:** Automatically calculates and displays a floating badge above the 25-day range containing:
* **Max High-to-Low Drop %:** The percentage drawdown from the period's highest peak to its lowest trough.
* **Current vs. High Drop %:** How far the current price is off the 25-day high.
* **25D Up/Down Volume Ratio:** The aggregate volume on up days divided by down days (UP Volume / Down Volume$) across the window.
* **Up vs. Down Day Counts:** The total number of positive price days versus negative price days.

* **Control:** Can be toggled on/off, with an adjustable vertical ATR offset slider (`Badge Up/Down Offset`) to prevent overlap with price bars.

### 3. 52-Week Highest & Lowest Lines

* **What it does:** Plots rolling or historical 52-week high and low levels across your chart.
* **Customization:** Independent toggles, line colors, and thickness controls (`1–10`) for both the 52-week High line and 52-week Low line, complete with price tag labels on the right edge.

### 4. Fully Customizable 25-Day Close Span Line

* **What it does:** Connects the close at the start of the 25-day window to the current close.
* **Customization:** Dedicated settings for line color and thickness (`1–10`) in input group *3. 25-Day Close Line*.

### 5. Special Marker for Low Volume Dry-Ups (`< 50%` of 50-Day Average)

* **What it does:** Automatically tracks the 50-day Simple Moving Average of volume (`volMaLen = 50`). If any bar's volume falls below your threshold (default **50%** of the 50-day average), it flags it with a special marker (`💧<50%V`) and prints the exact percentage of average volume.
* **Customizability:** You can customize the threshold percentage, marker color, symbol/text, and placement (*Above Bar* or *Below Bar*).

### 6. Anti-Hide / Up & Down Adjustable Markers

* **What it does:** Solves marker clipping and overlapping issues.
* **Control Sliders:**
* **Decline Count Up/Down Offset (ATR):** Shifts the 1–7+ volume decline numbers higher or lower relative to price bars.
* **`<50%` Volume Mark Offset (ATR):** Adjusts the low-volume warning markers independently.
* **Smart Auto-Stacking:** If a volume decline count and a low-volume dry-up mark occur on the same bar, the script automatically stacks them vertically so neither marker gets hidden behind moving averages or candles.
