Aktualisiert NEWS [Ordinary Trader]

# NEWS [Ordinary Trader]
NEWS by Ordinary Trader marks high-impact USD economic news events on your chart — CPI, NFP, FOMC, PCE, GDP, and the rest of the red-folder calendar — both past and upcoming.
Part of the Ordinary Trader family alongside **EMAs**, **FVGs**, **KEY LEVELS**, **ZONES**, and **STRATEGY (LITE / PRO)**. The methodology calls for standing aside during high-impact news; this indicator makes those events impossible to miss.
## Visuals
Each event produces a **full-height vertical column** at the exact event time, plus a **small triangle marker** in a thin pane below the chart. Hover the marker for event name, day, date, and time in your selected timezone.
~3 months of historical events stay visible. ~1 week of upcoming events floats in the projected area to the right of your latest candle.
## Tiers + Filters
Events auto-classify into 4 tiers, each with its own colour:
- **Tier 1** — CPI, NFP, FOMC Rate Decision, PCE, GDP
- **Tier 2** — FOMC Minutes, Retail Sales, ISM PMI, PPI
- **Tier 3** — ADP, Consumer Confidence, Michigan, JOLTS, Initial Jobless Claims, Durable Goods
- **Uncategorised** — everything else (default OFF)
Hybrid filtering: tier master toggles + per-event toggles.
## Alerts (optional)
Pre-event TradingView alerts fire N minutes before each visible event (default 30). Same filters apply. One-time setup: enable in indicator settings + add a TradingView alert with condition `Any alert() function call`.
## Timezone
10 options (ET / CT / PT / UTC / UK / CET / Tokyo / HK / Singapore / Sydney) for tooltips and alerts. DST automatic.
## Notes
- USD events only; non-USD on the roadmap.
- Built on the Forex Factory data feed maintained by **toodegrees** via Pine Seeds. The visual layer, tier classification, filter UI, and alerts are original work.
- License: Mozilla Public License 2.0. Free to use.

## v1.2.1- **New default tier colours — a traffic-light system.**
Defaults updated to red → yellow → green, fully opaque, matching the colour palette used across the rest of the Ordinary Trader family.
- Tier 1 (Highest impact): orange (`#e07a5f` — same as the EMA 3 line)
- Tier 2 (High impact): warm yellow (`#f2cc8f`)
- Tier 3 (Medium impact): sage green (`#81b29a` — same as EMA 2)
- Uncategorised: purple-grey (`#6d6875` — same as EMA 1)
All four are user-overridable in Settings if you preferred the previous palette.
## v1.2.0
- **Pre-event alerts — never miss a CPI/NFP/FOMC release.**
Get a notification on your phone, in your browser, or by email N minutes before each visible news event lands. Default lead time: 30 minutes. Configurable in the Settings panel.
- **Two new settings** in the General group:
- **Enable alerts** — toggle, OFF by default. Turn it on to arm the feature.
- **Alert lead time (minutes)** — integer, default 30. Range 1 to 1440 (24 hours).
- **Alert message format**: `[Tier] Event name in N minutes (HH:MM tz)`. Example: `[T1] CPI m/m in 30 minutes (08:30 ET)`. The time is shown in your selected Tooltip timezone.
- **Filters inherit** — alerts only fire for events you've left visible. If you've hidden a tier or a specific event, you won't get an alert for it.
- **Fires once per event** — no spam in the lead-up window.
**One-time TradingView setup (required):**
1. Add the indicator to your chart.
2. Open Settings → General → toggle **Enable alerts** ON, set **Alert lead time** as you like.
3. **Right-click the indicator name** "NEWS [Ordinary Trader]" in the top-left of the chart → **Add alert on NEWS [Ordinary Trader]**.
4. In the alert dialog, set **Condition** to `Any alert() function call`. Pick your notification channels (mobile, browser, email, webhook). Set **Expiration** to `Open-ended`. Click **Create**.
TradingView will now run the indicator on their server 24/7 and fire your notification channels each time an event enters the lead-time window. You don't need to keep the chart open.
**Heads-up on TradingView account limits.** Your TradingView account has a maximum number of configured alerts (depends on your plan — Free / Pro / Pro+ / Premium). This indicator counts as ONE configured alert, even though it can fire many times throughout the week.
- **Thinner default column.** Default News Column Width dropped from 5 to 3 pixels for a less dominant look. Still adjustable 1–10.
