Modern Ichimoku Cloud [GBB]

Modern Ichimoku Cloud [GBB]
A layered rebuild of the classic Ichimoku Kinko Hyo system. The five lines and the cloud are untouched: Tenkan, Kijun, Senkou A/B and Chikou still use Hosoda's original 9/26/52/26 constants, because that time theory is the point of Ichimoku, not a parameter to optimize away. What's new is everything built around those lines: objective measures of cloud thickness, signal qualification, and reusable support/resistance levels pulled straight out of the indicator's own geometry.
Turn on Classic mode and it's a plot-for-plot standard Ichimoku Cloud.
I added 4 optional Layers to the indicator to make it more suitable for modern markets:
Layer 1 — Normalised geometry
Cloud thickness and price-to-cloud distance are measured in ATR units and graded against a rolling percentile window (thin / normal / thick / very thick), so "thick cloud" means the same thing on BTC and on a forex pair instead of being a visual guess. The cloud's fill transparency follows the projected-thickness grade in real time, and an on-chart label reports the current grade plus price and Chikou distance from the cloud in ATR terms.
Layer 2 — Qualified signals
TK crosses and Kumo breakouts are still plotted raw, but a qualified version requires candle direction, a minimum price-to-cloud distance, and confirmed Chikou momentum (all in ATR units) to agree before a signal counts, with an optional higher-timeframe cloud-agreement filter. Qualified events get full-size markers; unqualified ones stay visible as small grey dots so you can see what got filtered and why, rather than the indicator just going quiet.
Layer 3 — Flat-line levels
When Kijun or Senkou B goes flat for a minimum run of bars, that level is drawn forward as a persistent line which is the classic "Kijun as support/resistance" read, made explicit and trackable instead of eyeballed. Levels are tracked as live, touched, or expired (by age, in multiples of the Kijun length), with a touch tolerance in ATR.
Layer 4 — HTF wash & stats
A higher-timeframe cloud position (auto: 4x chart, or set manually) tints the chart background so you can see the dominant trend context at a glance. An optional stats table reports running hit rates for qualified signals at two horizons, a forward-range multiple, and level touch rates — computed live from loaded bars, not backtested, and reset on any settings change or reload.
Alerts
Qualified TK cross (bull/bear), qualified Kumo breakout (up/down), Kumo twist (bull/bear, projected cloud), and flat-level touch. All fire on confirmed bars only.
Style
Three palettes (GBB, Classic, Mono) with automatic light/dark adaptation.
As with all [GBB] tools: the stats table shows running performance on the chart in front of you, not a backtest, and carries no trading costs or slippage. Use it to see what the indicator is actually doing, not as a signal to trade on its own.
