[Chrona] Session

117
A small table that names the part of the trading day you are in right now, by New York time. It answers one question at a glance — is this London, the New York morning, lunch, or the last hour — without reading the clock and converting time zones in your head.

WHAT IT SHOWS

One cell in a corner of the chart with the current session's name:

- Asia 20:00 – 02:00 New York time
- London 02:00 – 07:00
- Pre 07:00 – 09:30 (US pre-market)
- AM 09:30 – 12:00 (New York morning)
- Lunch 12:00 – 13:30
- PM 13:30 – 15:00 (New York afternoon)
- Power 15:00 – 16:00 (the last hour of the cash session)
- Post 16:00 – 20:00 (after hours)

Hover the cell to see that the name is read in New York time.

HOW TO USE IT

Add it to any chart and timeframe. In the settings:

- Position: any of the nine chart positions. Tables from different indicators overlap when they share a corner, so move this one if it lands on another table.
- Text size: Tiny, Small or Normal.
- Session colour: the colour of the session name.

The frame and background follow your chart's own colours, so the table reads the same on a light or a dark chart.

ORIGINALITY AND UTILITY

Most session scripts shade three or four regional sessions (Asia, London, New York) on the price pane. This one does the opposite: it draws nothing on the candles and splits the New York day into the phases intraday traders actually talk about — pre-market, the morning, lunch, the afternoon, the last hour and after hours — so the name stays useful while the New York session is open, which is when a single "New York" label stops telling you anything.

- The session is read from the current time, not from a bar's open time. On a 1-hour, 4-hour or daily chart a bar's open time sits hours behind the clock (a daily bar opens at midnight), so a bar-based label names the wrong session there. This one shows the same name on every timeframe.
- Daylight saving is handled by the New York time zone itself, so the windows stay on New York's clock through both clock changes with nothing to adjust.
- It only does work on the most recent bars, so it adds almost nothing to the chart's load time.

LIMITATIONS

- The windows are fixed to the New York hours listed above and cannot be edited.
- The name follows the clock, not the instrument's trading hours: on a weekend or holiday it still names the window the clock is in.
- The name updates when the chart receives new data. On a market with no incoming ticks it keeps showing the session from when the chart loaded, until the next update or a reload.
- There is no history: it shows only the current session, not a record of past ones on older candles.
