NASDAQ MTF Volume Scanner —
Most stock scanners filter by price action — breakouts, moving average crosses, RSI levels. The problem is that price is a lagging signal. By the time a price-based scanner fires, the move has already started and you are entering late into someone else's trade.
This scanner works differently. It reads the internal volume pressure inside each candle across four timeframes simultaneously, asking one question for every stock: who is actually in control of the volume, buyers or sellers, regardless of which direction price moved?
The core calculation is the High-Low-Close formula. Every candle has a range from low to high. Where price closes within that range tells you who won the battle. A close near the high means buyers pushed price up and held it there — buy pressure dominated. A close near the low means sellers controlled the candle. This produces a DV Ratio between 0 and 1 for every candle on every timeframe, and that ratio is the foundation of everything the scanner shows.
The most powerful signal is the Hidden Signal. When a candle closes red but the DV Ratio is above 58%, it means buyers controlled the volume even though price fell. This is institutional accumulation — large players buying quietly into selling pressure, deliberately keeping price from rising while they fill their position. The same logic applies in reverse for green candles with low DV ratios. This divergence between price direction and volume direction is one of the most reliable signals in volume analysis, and it appears in the scanner's Hidden and REV columns.
The multi-timeframe approach is what separates this from a single-timeframe tool. A signal on the 15-minute chart is noise. The same signal confirmed on the 1-hour, 4-hour, and daily chart simultaneously is institutional conviction. The score system weights the higher timeframes more heavily — the daily carries three points, the 4-hour and 1-hour carry two each, and the lowest timeframe carries one — because the longer the timeframe, the more volume and time it took to produce that signal.
How To Use It Practically
Place the scanner on any chart — SPY or QQQ works best as a neutral base. Set the four timeframes to values at or above your chart's timeframe. The scanner runs independently of what the chart itself shows.
Morning routine before market open. Check the 1D and 4H columns for all ten stocks. Any stock showing ▲ on both is in institutional buy pressure over the last day and several hours. Any stock showing ▼ on both is under sustained selling. This gives you your directional bias for the day before a single trade is placed. Stocks with score above +6 go on your buy watchlist. Stocks below -6 go on your short watchlist. Everything in between you ignore for the day.
During the session. Watch for three things in combination. First, a strong score of +6 or higher on the top three timeframes with the lowest timeframe just starting to align — this is a trend entry, the institutional move is established and the short-term is joining. Second, a strong score in one direction with a REV signal appearing in the opposite direction on TF4 — this is a pullback within a trend, meaning price has temporarily moved against the institutional flow and is about to snap back. This is often the cleanest entry of the day. Third, Hidden Signal appearing without a strong score — treat this as a warning, not a signal. Something is changing but the trend has not confirmed yet.
Before entering any trade. The scanner tells you which stock and which direction. It does not tell you when exactly to enter. Once a stock shows a score of +6 or above with Hidden Signal confirmed, switch to that stock's chart and use the main Delta MTF indicator to time the entry. Look for NEXT CANDLE going LIVE with 65% or above in the same direction as the scanner's signal. That combination — scanner for stock selection, indicator for entry timing — is the complete workflow.
Score interpretation at a glance:
A score of +9 or above means all four timeframes agree, DV is bullish, and Hidden Signal is present. This is the strongest possible reading and should be treated as a high-conviction setup. A score between +6 and +8 is a solid trend with most factors aligned — tradeable with normal sizing. Between +3 and +5 is a weak lean with incomplete confirmation — reduce size or wait. Below +3 in either direction means no edge and no trade.
The REV column specifically tells you when to look for a counter-trend entry on the lowest timeframe. If a stock has score +8 (strong bull) but REV shows SELL, that means the lowest timeframe candle closed green with heavy sell volume underneath — a short-term pullback is likely before the trend resumes. Experienced traders use this to enter the bull trend at a better price after the pullback completes rather than chasing the move.
