Multi-Asset SMT Divergence

Multi-Asset SMT Divergence

SMT (Smart Money Technique) divergence identifies when two correlated assets fail to confirm each other's swing structure — a higher high on one with a lower high on the other, or a lower low on one with a higher low on the other. That failure is the signal.
This indicator automates that comparison across the major ICT-relevant triads: NQ/ES/YM, Gold/Silver/DXY, EUR/GBP/DXY, AUD/NZD/DXY, BTC/ETH/SOL, WTI/Brent/NatGas, and the Treasury curve. Auto mode detects your chart symbol and populates the comparison pairs automatically. The active pairs are always displayed in the on-chart table so nothing is hidden.

Key features:

  • Auto-detection with full triad coverage across equities, metals, forex, crypto, energy, and bonds
  • Futures/spot aware — when on a futures chart, comparisons route to futures contracts, not spot feeds, to avoid false signals from regulated vs. unregulated price differences
  • Invert flag per slot for inverse-correlated pairs (e.g. DXY vs. Gold)
  • Up to 3 manual symbol slots with independent line styles
  • Combined label at each pivot shows all diverging assets in one clean callout
  • Configurable pivot lookback, colors, and label text color

Manual mode gives full control over all three comparison slots with per-slot invert and line style settings.
Pivot lookback defaults to 5 bars on each side. Lower it to catch more signals on lower timeframes, raise it to filter for cleaner structure on higher timeframes.

v1.1

Visual

  • Labels are now plain text instead of colored boxes. Bearish signals display in the bearish color, bullish in the bullish color.
  • Added Show/Hide Labels toggle for a lines-only view.
  • Added Label Size control (Tiny / Small / Normal / Large / Huge).
  • Added Line Width control (1–4).

Detection

  • Added Real-time Detection toggle. Fires on pivot formation without waiting for full right-side bar confirmation. History still builds from confirmed swings so large-swing SMTs are detected in both modes.
  • Added Candle Validation toggle. Requires a bearish candle at a bearish SMT pivot and a bullish candle at a bullish SMT pivot. Filters lower-probability signals.
  • Added Remove Broken SMTs toggle. Automatically deletes lines and labels when price closes through the SMT level.
  • Added Sweep Mode toggle. When on, signals only fire when the primary asset raids a previous swing level that the comparison asset fails to take — closer to ICT's definition of SMT and significantly reduces noise. When off, the original consecutive-pivot comparison is used.

Multi-Asset SMT Divergence — v1.2 Second update

New: Dual Detection Tiers

The indicator now runs two SMT detection engines simultaneously. The existing engine is now the macro tier — unchanged behavior, catches structural swings. A new micro tier runs in parallel with a smaller pivot lookback to catch shorter-duration deviations that the macro tier misses on lower timeframes.

Both tiers share all visual settings — same colors, line styles, line width, and label size — so signals from both read consistently on the chart. The on-chart table now shows | Micro On in the mode display when the micro tier is active.

Two new settings in Core Settings:

  • Show Micro SMTs — toggle the micro tier on or off independently (default On)
  • Micro Lookback — pivot lookback for the micro tier (default 2; lower for more sensitivity on 1-minute charts, higher for less noise on longer timeframes)

Alerts:

  • Sweep mode adds two new alert messages: "Bearish Micro SMT (...)" and "Bullish Micro SMT (...)"
  • Legacy mode adds six new named alert conditions, one per micro slot per direction

Also in this update:

  • Remove Broken SMTs is now On by default
  • Internal refactor: shared drawSMT() drawing helper and deleteMark() cleanup helper eliminate duplicated logic between tiers

Multi-Asset SMT Divergence — v1.2.1

Bug Fix

  • Fixed a runtime error (RE10026) that occurred when a stored pivot anchor was too far from the current bar. This affected users on longer timeframes or assets where session pivots build up over many bars. The fix switches all line and label coordinates to timestamp-based positioning (xloc.bar_time), which has no distance limit. The error varied in bar number and line reference depending on the asset and timeframe, which is why it showed up differently across users.

Auto-Detection

  • Added Russell 2000 (CME_MINI:RTY1!) as the third correlated asset in the US equity index triad. NQ, ES, and YM now all compare against each other and RTY simultaneously. RTY charts auto-detect NQ, ES, and YM as their three comparison assets. Detects on RTY, RUT, and IWM tickers.
