VolumeEdgePro Session v2.0

VolumeEdgePro Session — Fixed Range Volume Profile + Edge Exhaustion Detection

VolumeEdgePro Session builds a fresh Fixed Range Volume Profile for every session you choose (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Half-Year, or Yearly) and watches the profile's own boundaries for exhaustion — a wick that rejects the edge of the session's traded range while volume thins out right at that edge. That combination is the core signal this tool is built around: EDGE EXH (Edge Exhaustion).

After many months of testing, forward testing, and tweaking, I'm releasing this as the final version — v2.0 — that any user can truly have confidence using.

Why I built this

Most Fixed Range Volume Profile tools available are static drawing tools — you draw a profile over a range yourself, it doesn't rebuild automatically at session boundaries, and it has no way to detect or alert on anything happening at its own edges. You get the profile and nothing else; reading exhaustion, confirmation, or timing out of it is entirely manual, bar by bar, chart by chart. I wanted a profile that resets itself at every session boundary automatically, flags the moment price exhausts against its own edge, and tells me when that happens instead of me having to keep watching for it — so I built this from the ground up, rather than modifying or reskinning an existing script.

If you read volume before you read price, this is one of the better tools you can put on a chart. Most indicators tell you where price has been. This one tells you where price ran out of participants to keep going — the empty bins at a profile boundary are the direct evidence that the move lacks the volume to continue, not a lagging guess built from price alone.

The best part: reading where the market tends to go next

An empty-bin exhaustion at a profile boundary isn't just a rejection — it's a readable signal about direction. When price pushes to the edge of the session's range and volume dries up right at that edge, it tells you the move ran out of participants before it ran out of room, which is the setup that tends to precede a reversal back into the value area. When volume stays present all the way to the edge instead, that absence of exhaustion tells you the opposite — the move still has participation behind it and continuation is more likely than rejection. That's what sets this apart from a plain price-action read: you're not guessing which way a touch resolves, you're reading the volume evidence that usually decides it.

Core features

  • Session-anchored Fixed Range Volume Profile, rebuilt fresh at every session boundary rather than sliding forward bar by bar
  • EDGE EXH detection — rejection wick at a profile boundary + a minimum run of empty volume bins at that edge
  • Signals are never hidden, only color-coded — a touch that doesn't clear your empty-bin, session-maturity, or confluence threshold still draws a gray, paused label instead of vanishing, so you see every touch and why it was or wasn't treated as valid
  • Optional MA Cross and PC Cross confirmation layers on top of the base EDGE EXH signal
  • On-chart dashboard showing live watch states, session info, and PC (previous session close) position
  • Discord and Telegram alert support, including Telegram topic routing
  • Custom time-of-day and day-of-week alert filtering

Volume trading vs. price trading

Price trading reads candles, trendlines, and price-based indicators (moving averages, RSI, Fibonacci levels) — all of it derived from where price has already traded, with volume as an afterthought at best. Two charts can show an identical price pattern and mean completely different things, because price alone can't tell you whether that pattern was built on heavy participation or almost none.

Volume trading reads where the trading actually happened, not just where the last price printed. A Volume Profile shows you the full distribution of traded volume across price, bar by bar — the high-volume nodes where the market agreed on value, and the low-volume nodes where price moved through with little resistance. A price chart alone can't show you either of those.

The practical difference: a price-only trader sees price reject a level and has to guess whether that rejection means something. A volume trader sees the same rejection happen at a profile boundary with empty bins behind it and knows the move already lacks the volume to extend — the rejection isn't a guess, it's a measurable shortage of participation. That's the edge this tool is built to surface directly on your chart, rather than leaving you to infer it from price shape alone.

Settings

Session Mode (Auto or manual: Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly/Half-Year/Yearly), Min Empty Bins (high/low side), Boundary Scan Window, MA Cross and PC Cross confirmation toggles, dashboard display options, and Discord/Telegram alert routing with per-day/time filtering.

A note on volume data

The volume this script reads comes from TradingView's own data feed for whatever symbol you have charted — not from this script itself. For exchange-traded instruments (crypto, stocks, futures), that's real traded volume from that exchange. For forex and most CFD symbols, there's no single central exchange, so what's shown is tick volume — a count of price-change events, used as a proxy for actual volume — sourced from whichever broker/data provider is feeding that symbol on TradingView. It's not literal executed volume in that case, but it's the best proxy available for an OTC market, and it's the same convention every other volume-based tool on TradingView relies on for forex. Worth keeping in mind when comparing signal strength across symbols from different asset classes.

Update for VolumeEdgePro Session v2.01

What's new

Tier 2 (MA Cross Alert) now sends the same level of detail as Tier 3 (PC Cross Alert) — Entry, Stop Loss, Take Profit, and Empty Bins count on every alert, instead of just a bare confirmation line.

  • Forward MA confirmation: Entry is the confirming bar's live close, SL is the original signal bar's structural level (frozen at the moment EDGE EXH fired), TP is SL distance × your Risk:Reward Ratio.
  • Backward MA confirmation: same fields, computed directly off the signal bar since it fires immediately.

All three tiers (EDGE EXH Alone, MA Cross, PC Cross) now report consistently, so every alert gives you an actual tradeable level, not just a notification that something happened.

Update for VolumeEdgePro Session v2.02

Bug fix

Fixed a real issue where Tier 3 (PC Cross Alert) could repeat the same signal over and over, once per bar, instead of firing once. Found from a live alert log showing an identical PC Cross signal firing every 30 minutes with the entry price slowly creeping — root cause was the watch re-arming off its own already-fired signal instead of waiting for a genuinely new one. Now each signal can only arm and fire once. Tier 1 and Tier 2 were not affected.

Update for VolumeEdgePro Session v2.04

**Bug fix**

Fixed EDGE EXH chart labels retroactively flipping from colored to gray ("not enough empty bins") hours after they first fired. The label-redraw routine was checking each past touch's empty-bin count against the session's current, fuller profile instead of how it looked at the moment the touch happened — so a perfectly valid signal could turn gray later purely because the session filled in around it. Each touch's empty-bin verdict is now locked in the first time it's evaluated and never recalculated. Alerts were not affected by this — they fire once, live, and were always correct.

**What this means for labels you've already seen**

Any label already showing gray on your current open session under the old logic stays as-is until a new bar closes — the fix only locks in future verdicts, it doesn't repaint history retroactively. Once a new bar closes after updating, that new bar's touches get the correct frozen verdict going forward, and the flip-flopping stops from that point on.

VolumeEdgePRO Session v2.07 Update

What's new since v2.04:

  • Fixed a color bug on EDGE EXH labels — historical SELL/BUY labels were randomly flipping between colored and gray on chart reload, even on sessions that had already closed. Each label now locks in its true color the moment that touch happened and stays that way, regardless of what the market is doing now.
  • Added a D1 Direction Dashboard panel — shows daily bias (Long/Short/Neutral), Value Area High/Low, POC, ADX trend, POC strength, and recent bias flip history. Toggle it on/off and set its position/size under the new "D1 Dashboard" settings group.
  • General stability fixes to keep profile calculations correct across chart reloads and higher profile-count settings.

VolumeEdgePro Session v2.09

NEW: Alert Selection
- Choose which alerts are sent: Tier 1 (EDGE EXH, immediate), Tier 2 (MA Cross) and Tier 3 (PC Cross). Each has its own on/off switch.
- Alert Direction: Both, Buy only or Sell only.
- Tier 1 can be switched off while Tiers 2 and 3 stay on. EDGE EXH still acts as the setup signal for them.
- The dashboard now shows which tiers and direction are active.

CHANGED: Tier 2 (MA Cross)
- BUY and SELL setups are now watched separately. A new setup in one direction no longer overwrites a pending watch in the other direction.
- A reverse signal now cancels only the Tier 3 watch, not Tier 2. The Tier 2 watch stays open until it expires.
- The MA WATCH row on the dashboard shows both directions.

FIXED: Tier 3 (PC Cross)
- Corrected the starting values of the Tier 3 watch variables, so the first armed signal of a session is tracked properly.

NEW: Debug alerts (optional, off by default)
- "Send Debug Alerts" posts Tier 2 and Tier 3 watch events (armed, cancelled, expired, crossed, signal not armed) so you can see why an alert did or did not fire.
- Debug messages are grey in Discord.

IMPORTANT: Recreate your alerts
TradingView alerts keep a snapshot of the script and its settings from the day they were created. After updating, delete your old alerts and create new ones, otherwise they keep running the old version and old settings.

New inputs sit at the end of their groups, so your saved settings are kept.

VolumeEdgePro Session v2.10

NEW: Tier 1 follow-through filter (optional)
EDGE EXH can print repeatedly while price keeps pushing, which means repeated Tier 1 alerts. You can now ask for confirmation before the alert is sent.

- Tier 1 Confirmation Bars (0-3). 0 = send immediately, same as before (default).
- With 1-3, the alert is held back until that many bars in a row close in the signal's direction (BUY: bullish bar, SELL: bearish bar).
- Each confirming bar must not be oversized: its high-low range must be no bigger than the average range of the previous 5 or 10 bars (your choice) times a multiplier (default 1.0).
- A wrong-direction bar or an oversized bar cancels the wait. That is treated as a whipsaw/trap and no Tier 1 alert is sent.
- BUY and SELL are tracked separately. An opposite EDGE EXH cancels the other side's wait.
- The alert is sent when the last confirming bar closes. Entry is that bar's close, the stop stays at the signal bar's structural stop, and the target follows your RR.
- Tier 2 and Tier 3 are not affected.

NEW: Alert Selection
- Choose which tiers send alerts (Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3) and the alert direction (Both / Buy only / Sell only).
- Settings are now in this order: Alert Direction, Tier 1 and its three confirmation settings, Tier 3, Tier 2, Debug.

CHANGED: Tier 2 (MA Cross)
- BUY and SELL setups are watched separately. A new setup in one direction no longer overwrites a pending watch in the other.

NEW: Debug alerts (optional, off by default)
- Reports when a Tier 1, 2 or 3 wait arms, progresses, cancels, expires or confirms, so you can see why an alert did or did not fire.

FIXED
- Fixed Discord alerts failing with "400 Bad Request" for the new Tier 1 messages (invalid line breaks in the message).

IMPORTANT
1. Settings were reordered in this version, so saved settings from older versions can shift. After updating, open the settings and check them all before use.
2. TradingView alerts keep a snapshot of the script and settings from the day they were created. Delete your old alerts and create new ones after updating.
