Signal Charge: Momentum Buy Sell Signals

█ Overview
Signal Charge is a real-time momentum buy sell signals indicator for TradingView. It shows how close a buy or sell signal is to firing, before it fires. A live gauge beside the last candle marks the exact prices at which the open bar's close would lock a Buy or a Sell, so you can see the signal build tick by tick.
Signals lock at bar close and never move afterwards. While a bar is still open, signals appear as translucent ghost orbs, so you always know what is confirmed and what is still forming.
It works on crypto, forex, stocks and indices, on any timeframe from scalping to swing trading. It measures how strongly and how cleanly price has been moving, using ATR-scaled momentum, and shows where that crosses a fixed lock level. Buy and sell decisions stay with you.

▌ Live gauge
A vertical ladder sits a few bars to the right of the last candle. Its top and bottom edges are the real prices at which charge would equal +1 (Buy) and −1 (Sell) if the open bar closed there. Prices for 25%, 50% and 75% charge divide each side into four segments.
▌ Charge wake
A two-layer aura trails the charging side of each candle. It sits below the lows when momentum is building up and above the highs when it is building down. Thickness and opacity grow with charge, so strong thrusts stand out at a glance.
▌ Charge orbs
A locked signal is a solid orb with a bloom, placed 0.55 ATR beyond the candle's extreme, inside the wake. A live signal is a translucent ghost orb that becomes solid if it locks at the close. A small amber dot marks the bar where a stance returned to flat. Direction is shown by position (below the candle for Buy, above for Sell) as well as by color.
▌ Stance strip, entry rail and candle heat
The stance strip is a row of small squares at the bottom of the pane. It is in the buy color during a locked Buy stance and in the sell color during a locked Sell stance. A dotted entry rail runs from the lock price and extends into the gauge while the stance lasts. Candles tint from neutral gray toward the buy or sell color as charge builds.

- LED segments: they light up in the buy color above the zero line and the sell color below it as momentum builds. A partly built segment is partly lit.
- Needle: the thick horizontal line marks the current price.
- Glow and cap: the halo around the ladder brightens at a lock, and a bright cap fills the ladder beyond the lock price.
- Price badges: color-filled badges such as "BUY ≥ 67,420 / +0.4 ATR" show the exact lock price and its distance from the current price in ATR. Dashed rails connect them to the last candle. Rails further than 4 ATR from price are hidden.
- Status badge: it reads "▲ 62% CHARGE" while momentum builds, "BUY · LIVE" when the lock level is reached on the open bar, and "LONG · 14 bars" with "+1.3 ATR · peak +2.1" beneath once a stance is active. It turns amber when the stance is fading.
- Countdown: "CLOSES IN 2:41" shows the time left until the bar locks, and it turns amber in the last 10 seconds. When the last bar is already closed it reads "LEVELS APPLY TO NEXT BAR".

█ How It Works
- Move: d = (close − previous close) ÷ the previous bar's ATR(14).
- Smoothing: emaD is the EMA of d and emaA is the EMA of |d|, with length L (Fast 8, Balanced 13, Smooth 21).
- Standardize: emaD is divided by √(α ÷ (2 − α)) × the standard deviation of d over the prior 100 bars (floored at 0.2), where α = 2 ÷ (L + 1).
- Efficiency: eff = |emaD| ÷ emaA, from 0 (choppy) to 1 (straight).
- Charge: charge = standardized emaD × (0.5 + 0.5 × eff) ÷ lock level. +1.0 is the Buy lock and −1.0 the Sell lock. Charge is a relative momentum reading, not a probability.
- Lock: at bar close, charge ≥ +1.0 locks a Buy if the stance is not already long. Charge ≤ −1.0 locks a Sell if the stance is not already short. A long stance returns to flat when charge falls below the fade level (0.15 by default), and a short stance when charge rises above −0.15.
- Live levels: the formula uses the previous bar's ATR, so charge depends only on the candidate close. The script searches numerically (30-step bisection, within ±8 ATR) for the closes giving charge 0, ±25%, ±50%, ±75%, ±100% and the fade level. When the last bar is already closed, the levels refer to the next bar.
- Wake geometry: the core layer extends 0.45 × ATR × charge from the candle's low (positive charge) or high (negative charge). The glow layer extends 1.05 × ATR × charge. Charge is capped at 1.25 for this.
- ATR since lock and peak: "since lock" is the stance direction × (close − lock close) ÷ ATR at the lock. "Peak" is the best value of that measure seen at any confirmed close since the lock, plus the current value.
- Live vs locked: on the open bar the gauge, candle tint, wake and ghost orbs move tick by tick. The stance, strip, entry rail and locked orbs change only at the close.
- Countdown: time until the bar's scheduled close, time_close − timenow. It refreshes whenever the script receives a tick.
█ How to Use
- Read the gauge: the price badges show where price must close for a lock, and the lit segments show how far momentum has built. A ghost orb means the lock condition is met right now and becomes final at the close.
- Manage the trade: the entry rail marks the lock price. "ATR since lock" and "peak" show the move so far and how far it has come off its best point. The amber fade level marks where the thrust would be considered finished.
- Choose your pace: Smooth is the default and gives steady, selective signals. Balanced reacts sooner, and Fast reacts earliest, which suits scalping and short-term trading.
- Combine with your own analysis: pair the signals with your own levels, structure and risk rules. Signal Charge supplies momentum information, and you decide whether and how to act, including position size.
- Use the alerts: set alerts for locked signals, early charge warnings and fades, so you don't need to watch the chart.
█ Settings
Core Logic
- Sensitivity (Smooth): Fast = 8-bar EMA, Balanced = 13, Smooth = 21. A longer window gives fewer, steadier locks.
Display
- Theme (Aurora): Aurora (mint/coral), Classic (teal/red), Ice (blue/orange), Mono (white/gray, best on dark charts).
- Live gauge next to last bar (on)
- Charge wake (on)
- Signal marks (orbs) (on): the orbs and the amber fade dots.
- Stance strip (bottom dots) (on)
- Entry rail (on)
- Color candles by charge (on)
Advanced
- Lock level (1.0): the charge needed for a lock. A higher value gives fewer, later locks.
- Fade level (0.15): the fraction of the lock level below which a stance returns to flat. A higher value ends stances sooner.
- Gauge distance (bars) (3): how far right of the last bar the gauge sits. Keep free chart space on the right.
█ Alerts
- Buy locked (confirmed at bar close): fires only on the closing tick of a bar where the Buy lock condition holds.
- Sell locked (confirmed at bar close): fires only on the closing tick of a bar where the Sell lock condition holds.
- Buy live (intrabar): fires while the bar is open as soon as charge reaches the Buy lock level. Use "Once Per Bar" for one alert per bar.
- Sell live (intrabar): the same for the Sell lock level.
- Buy charge 80% (live): an early heads-up that fires intrabar when charge crosses 80% of the lock level and the stance is not already long.
- Sell charge 80% (live): the same for the sell side.
- Thrust faded (confirmed at bar close): fires when a stance returns to flat at the close.
All alerts follow the current bar only.
█ Good to Know
- Timing: a lock confirms momentum that has already built, and it arrives at bar close. The live gauge, ghost orbs, tint and wake update tick by tick on the open bar. They are the preview, and the close is the confirmation.
- Sensitivity trade-off: faster settings react earlier and produce more signals. Smoother settings produce fewer, steadier signals.
- Live levels: the lock prices are for the current bar's close. They refresh as each new bar opens.
- Countdown: it refreshes whenever the script receives a tick. It is hidden on chart types without a scheduled close time.
- Chart types: use regular candles or bars. On Heikin Ashi, Renko and similar chart types the values come from synthetic prices.
- Chart space: keep free space on the right of the chart for the gauge. The first bars of a chart have no readings while the indicator warms up.
- Not a strategy: this is an indicator. No backtest, win rate or profit figures are published or implied.
