USDCAD - Sep 01 , Selling pressure continues, 2 peaks

USDCAD trend forecast September 01 , 2025

💬The USD/CAD pair is steady on Friday, consolidating after snapping a three-day decline, as market participants adopt a cautious stance ahead of key data releases: the US Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) inflation figures and Canada’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), both due at 12:30 GMT.

During the European session, the pair trades around 1.3750, having earlier touched 1.3737 — its weakest level since August 8 — before a modest rebound in the US Dollar (USD) limited further gains for the Canadian Dollar.

Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the USD against a basket of six major peers, steadies after three consecutive days of losses, holding near the 98.00 level as traders adjust positions ahead of US economic data. Still, the Greenback remains broadly pressured by rising doubts over the Federal Reserve’s (Fed) independence and expectations of a more dovish stance, with markets widely pricing in a 25 basis point (bps) rate cut in September. The release of July’s PCE inflation report will be crucial in shaping the Fed’s policy outlook.

💬 Limited buying pressure, maintaining selling pressure. In the context of DXY continuing to weaken at the beginning of the week
