XAUUSD NY Open 8 EMA Fakeout Strategy

481
The NY Open 8 EMA Fakeout Strategy is a precision intraday momentum-reversal strategy designed specifically for high-volatility sessions like the New York market open. It targets "fakeouts"—liquidity grabs where price temporarily breaches an exponential moving average (EMA) before aggressively reclaiming direction in alignment with the higher timeframe (HTF) trend.
Key Features & Mechanics

Higher Timeframe Trend Filter:

Uses a multi-timeframe approach via request.security() (defaulting to the 15-minute timeframe) to compare the HTF close against the HTF 8 EMA.

Bullish Bias: HTF Close > HTF 8 EMA

Bearish Bias: HTF Close < HTF 8 EMA

Session Timing Window:

Restricts new entries to a custom session window (default: 09:30–10:15 EST), capturing the explosive volatility of the New York open while avoiding low-volume chop during mid-day or off-hours.

Fakeout & Reclaim Entry Conditions:

Long Entry: Price must first dip below the lower timeframe 8 EMA (grabbing liquidity), followed immediately by a close back above the 8 EMA (ta.crossover) while the HTF bias is bullish.

Short Entry: Price must first spike above the lower timeframe 8 EMA, followed immediately by a close back below the 8 EMA (ta.crossunder) while the HTF bias is bearish.

Risk Management & Exit Parameters:

Fixed Percentage Risk/Reward: Employs percentage-based Stop-Loss (default 0.3%) and Take-Profit (default 0.6%) parameters for a fixed 1:2 Risk-to-Reward ratio.

Intraday Session Flattening: Enforces a strict session-close rule (strategy.close_all) that liquidates open positions once the trading window closes, completely eliminating overnight/over-session gap risk.
