Overview
The Aggression and Absorption Indicator is a powerful price-action tool designed to identify significant institutional participation and volatility anomalies directly on your chart. It dynamically scans for two distinct market behaviors—Aggression and Absorption—by analyzing volume, wicks, body sizes, and True Range (ATR) across both local and daily timeframes.
Core Features
1. Aggression Detection (Daily ATR Baseline)
Aggression candles represent massive, unhindered momentum. The indicator identifies these by comparing the current candle's range against the Daily Average True Range (ATR).
- Signal: By default, if a single intraday candle consumes 20% of the entire Daily ATR, and the candle's body makes up the majority of that range, it is highlighted in Purple. This signals a high-conviction momentum push.
2. Absorption Detection (Local ATR & Volume)
Absorption occurs when heavy buying or selling pressure is met with an equal or greater opposing force, trapping traders.
- Signal: The script looks for a surge in volume (relative to a 20 SMA) combined with a larger-than-average local candle range. If a large wick forms—indicating that the aggressive pressure was absorbed and rejected—the candle is painted White.
- Visual Cues: A Green Bubble below the candle indicates Bullish Absorption (selling pressure absorbed), while a Red Bubble above indicates Bearish Absorption (buying pressure absorbed).
3. On-Chart ATR Dashboard
A customizable dashboard is included to help you monitor the daily volatility baseline. It displays the current Daily ATR value and tracks the real-time range of the active candle against the required threshold for an Aggression signal, keeping you informed without cluttering your workspace.
Customization
Everything is fully customizable. You can adjust the ATR lookback periods, volume surge thresholds, wick ratios required for absorption, and the body percentage required for aggression. The dashboard can also be resized and positioned anywhere on your chart.
