From Pivots to Channels — Why HH/HL/LH/LL Logic Matters
Channels are only as good as the pivots behind them. AG Pro Dynamic Channels V2 builds channels from categorized pivots (e.g., higher highs, higher lows, lower highs, lower lows), and differentiates between Major and Minor structure.
Why pivot classification helps:
- A “Higher Low” inside an up-structure often marks where buyers defended trend.
- A “Lower High” inside a down-structure often marks where sellers defended trend.
- Major pivots tend to matter more on higher timeframes and during regime shifts.
Practical interpretation:
- In an uptrend, repeated reactions to internal support (HL-based structure) often signal trend continuation.
- A clean break and acceptance outside a major boundary can signal a transition (trend weakening or reversal) — but it still needs context.
How to reduce false structure:
- Use bar-close confirmation for breakout logic.
- Consider using fewer Minor channels if your market is choppy.
