Twice now I've called a setup A-grade — trend-following, strong confluence, every box checked — then sized it at half risk anyway.
Both times, looking back, the grade was right. My own rule says A means full risk. I didn't give it full risk either time.
The first time I shrugged it off. The second time, weeks later, on a different pair, it was clearly a pattern, not a one-off. Some part of me doesn't fully trust my own "A" once it's time to actually size the trade.
That's not a bad rule — it's a gap between what I say I believe and what I actually do. If I only ever trade these at half risk, that's the truth about me, not the setup.
The fix isn't forcing full risk next time to prove a point. It's noticing the moment I quietly shrink the size, and asking why — before it just becomes a rounding error in the log.
