VWAP Hunter - Reclaim and Bounce

471
VWAP Hunter is an intraday overlay that distinguishes two price interactions with daily VWAP: reclaiming it from below and holding it during a pullback from above.

The script combines VWAP context with separate event rules for reclaims and bounces. Its purpose is to identify both setups while reducing repeated bounce labels during the same interaction.

CHART DISPLAY

• Blue line: daily-anchored VWAP, using HLC3 by default.
• Green bands: upper and lower VWAP bands, set to one standard deviation by default.
• Red/green curve: a 28-period EMA with optional shading. Green means the close is at or above the EMA; red means it is below. This curve provides context and does not control the VWAP signals.

RECLAIM

A blue RECLAIM label appears when the previous candle closed at or below VWAP and the current candle closes above it. Every qualifying confirmed crossing is eligible. Volume, candle color and label-spacing filters do not suppress reclaims.

BOUNCE

A green BOUNCE label requires the previous close to be above VWAP. The current candle must make a low at or below the previous candle’s low, touch the adjustable VWAP tolerance zone, and close above VWAP. The default tolerance is 0.30%.

One bounce is marked per interaction. By default, the detector resets after one completed candle has its entire range above the tolerance zone. It also resets following a close at or below VWAP or a new daily anchor. A reclaim does not block a subsequent qualifying bounce.

CONFIRMATION AND SETTINGS

Both BOUNCE and RECLAIM wait for candle close and appear on the confirming candle. Optional bounce quality filters are off by default.

Optional continuation detection identifies higher closes above VWAP, subject to its filters and higher-high setting. Continuation labels are hidden by default.

The EMA updates at candle close by default. VWAP and its bands can move while the current candle forms.

ALERTS AND USAGE

For alerts matching visible labels, select “Clean chart signal” and “Once Per Bar Close.” Other alert choices can include continuation events even when their labels are hidden.

Use intraday standard or hollow candles with available volume data. Non-standard charts can use synthetic prices and change the calculations.

These signals describe completed price conditions. They can fail, particularly around repeated VWAP crossings in sideways markets. This indicator has no established profitability or accuracy rate.
