Combine with Other Tools:

Use additional technical indicators or fundamental analysis to confirm signals generated by the [blackcat] L3 Magic-9 MACD Setup.
Enhance decision-making accuracy by cross-verifying multiple data sources.

LIMITATIONS

Market Conditions Sensitivity:

The indicator may produce fewer reliable signals during periods of low volatility or range-bound markets.
Traders should be cautious of false positives in highly choppy environments 🌪️.
Dependency on Historical Data:

Accurate performance requires sufficient historical price data; insufficient data may lead to inaccurate calculations.
Regular updates and backtesting are essential to maintain effectiveness over time.
Single Indicator Risk:

Relying solely on MACD-based signals can miss broader market context; combining with other analytical tools is recommended.
Always validate signals through multiple lenses to mitigate risks associated with single-indicator strategies.

NOTES

Data Sufficiency:

Ensure your chart has enough historical data loaded to support robust MACD computations.
Periodically review and update data inputs to reflect current market dynamics.
Testing and Validation:

Conduct thorough testing on demo accounts before deploying the indicator in live trading scenarios.
Backtest across various market cycles to assess its resilience under different conditions.
Parameter Optimization:

Experiment with different parameter settings tailored to specific asset classes or trading styles.

█ OVERVIEW

Magic-9 MACD Setup V2 turns the classic MACD panel into a governed signal engine: it counts consecutive directional moves of the momentum line, flags the 9th and 13th step as reversal candidates, then confirms each entry with a dedicated setup oscillator. V2 adds bidirectional long and short signals, volatility-based protective levels, a complete alert set and an on-chart dashboard.

█ CONCEPTS

• Sequence tracking: consecutive one-directional steps of the momentum line are counted and printed on the panel (5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 9, 13 by default).
• Reversal candidates: the Signal sequence (9) and the Extreme sequence (13) mark over-extension, i.e. exhaustion of the current push.
• Setup confirmation: the setup oscillator must rotate against the extended sequence before a B or S marker appears.
• Signal governance: every signal passes a position state machine, so entries are edge-triggered, non-overlapping, cooldown-aware and one-directional per bar.
• Risk layer: optional volatility-based stop and target levels.

█ SIGNALS

• ▲ 9 / ▲ 13 (red, below the line): downside over-extension — long-side watch list.
• ▼ 9 / ▼ 13 (green, above the line): upside over-extension — short-side watch list.
• B (green, below): long entry — the setup rotated up after a downside sequence.
• S (red, above): short entry — the setup rotated down after an upside sequence.
• XL / XS (orange cross): position closed by the opposite signal or by the volatility stop/target.
• RL / RS (teal / maroon): optional continuation entry after an exit — off by default.
• Panel tint: light green while a long state is active, light red while a short state is active.
• Dashboard (top right): position, entry, stop, target, volatility reading, higher-timeframe gate state and remaining cooldown.

█ HOW TO USE

1 — Apply the indicator to any symbol and timeframe; it opens in its own pane.
2 — Read the sequence numbers first; act only on B and S markers.
3 — Use the reported levels for stop and target, or enable the volatility exit and let XL / XS close the trade.
4 — Build alerts from the indicator's alert conditions — one per signal type, plus the two sequence milestones.

Input Parameters
• MACD Fast / Slow / Signal Length: the momentum engine itself.
• Sequence Numbers: which step counts are tracked and printed.
• Signal / Extreme Sequence Number: the two milestone counts that drive signals.
• Setup Length: lookback used by the confirmation oscillator.
• Setup Cross Window (Signal / Extreme / Tail): how recent the setup rotation must be, one window per signal route.
• Enable Signal Governance: master switch for the state machine.
• Same-bar Entry/Exit Exclusivity: at most one decision per bar.
• Cooldown Bars: minimum spacing between signals (0 disables it).
• Edge Deduplication: fire once per signal onset; switch off to restore the original repeats.
• Opposite Signal Closes Position: stop-and-reverse behaviour.
• ATR Stop / Target Exit, ATR Length, Stop Loss and Take Profit (xATR): protective levels expressed as volatility multiples.
• Enable Re-entry, Anchor Window: optional post-exit continuation entries.
• Enable HTF Direction Gate, HTF Timeframe, HTF MACD Fast / Slow: entries only in the direction of a higher-timeframe reading (off by default).
• Show Sequence Labels, Show Trade Labels, Position Background Color, Show Dashboard.

█ LIMITATIONS

• Sequence logic needs history: the first bars of a chart show no marks.
• Long sequences are rare on very low intraday timeframes — expect fewer, later signals.
• Range markets can produce consecutive reversals; keep the cooldown enabled.
• Signals are evaluated at bar close: nothing repaints, but nothing is front-run either.
• This is a setup finder, not a complete system — bring your own risk policy.

█ NOTES

• Open source under the Mozilla Public License 2.0.
• V2 keeps the original behaviour as its default path: governance, risk exits, re-entry and the higher-timeframe gate can each be switched off independently.
• Alerts are bar-close confirmed — set alert frequency to once per bar close.
