COMEX Gold Open Interest for XAUUSD CFD Charts

773
OVERVIEW
XAUUSD charts from CFD and spot providers such as OANDA do not have their own Open Interest data, so the standard Open Interest indicator returns an error on these symbols.

This script displays Open Interest from COMEX Gold futures (COMEX:GC1!) in a separate pane, so you can view it while keeping your XAUUSD CFD chart open.

HOW IT WORKS
This script is based on TradingView's built-in Open Interest indicator. Instead of building the Open Interest symbol from the chart ticker, it always requests COMEX:GC1!_OI.

If intraday Open Interest data is available, the script plots it as candles on the current timeframe. Otherwise, it uses daily data and plots one value for each day.

HOW TO USE
1. Open a gold chart, such as OANDA:XAUUSD.
2. Add this script to the chart.
3. Compare changes in Open Interest with price:
- Price up and OI up: new positions may be supporting the move.
- Price up and OI down: the move may be driven partly by position closing or short covering.
- Price down and OI up: new positions may be supporting the decline.
- Price down and OI down: the decline may be driven partly by position closing.

These are general interpretations, not trading signals. Open Interest shows how many contracts remain open, but it does not show which side is initiating the trades.

LIMITATIONS
- The data comes from COMEX Gold futures, not OANDA or any other CFD provider.
- Because daily data appears as steps on intraday charts, it is not designed for bar-by-bar entries.
- Daily values may be delayed and may not reflect the most recent price action.
- Continuous contract data can change around contract rollovers.
- The symbol is fixed, so the script always shows COMEX Gold Open Interest, even on non-gold charts.

This script is for educational and informational purposes only and is not financial advice.
