MNQ 09:30 Breakout
Captures momentum breakouts from the opening candle of the New York session on MNQ (Micro Nasdaq
Futures).
Concept
The 09:30 ET candle defines the anchor range for the day — its high and low become the key
levels. A close above the anchor high triggers a long; a close below the anchor low triggers a
short. The strategy trades the initial momentum burst right at the open, when volatility and
directional conviction tend to be highest.
Entry Rules
- Entry occurs on the candle that crosses the anchor level (previous close inside the range,
current close outside)
- To re-enter on the same day, price must break the opposite side first — no consecutive trades
in the same direction
- Trading window: 09:31–11:30 ET only
Exit Rules
- Stop loss: opposite anchor level (anchor low for longs, anchor high for shorts)
- Take profit: configurable % of entry price (default 0.10%)
- Max SL filter: trade is skipped if the SL distance exceeds the configured % threshold (default
0.30%)
- Time stop: all positions closed at 11:31 ET
- Consecutive loss protection: trading paused after 2 back-to-back losing days
