BTCUSDT: Rejection Below $86K, Bears Take Control

169
Bitcoin is losing momentum after the strong breakout rally. Price failed to extend above the $86,000–$87,000 region and has since formed a clear rejection structure, with sellers gradually pushing BTC back below the short-term EMA.

The main area to watch is now $84,500–$86,200. If BTC rebounds into this sell zone but fails to hold above it, the recovery would look more like a retest of resistance than the beginning of another bullish leg.

Price is already approaching the slower EMA around $82,200. A decisive H4 break below this support would strengthen the bearish structure and expose the next major area around $80,000, which is also the main target marked on the chart.

Macro context
The short-term macro backdrop also creates pressure for BTC. The Fed recently raised rates by 25 bps to 3.75%–4.00%, while U.S. Treasury yields have moved higher as markets prepare for this week's PCE and NFP data. Higher yields generally tighten financial conditions and can weigh on risk assets such as Bitcoin.

At the same time, strong spot Bitcoin ETF inflows remain an important counterweight, so I would still want technical confirmation before treating the downside move as fully established. U.S. spot BTC ETFs attracted about $2.4 billion last week.

Trade idea
Bias: Bearish
Sell zone: $84,500–$86,200
First support: $82,200
Main target: $80,000
Invalidation: Sustained H4 recovery above $86,200

For now, the cleaner setup is to wait for a failed recovery into resistance rather than chase the current decline.
