SBI LIFE: 8-YEAR CHANNEL SUPPORT — REVERSAL OR BREAKDOWN?

184
SBI Life is approaching a critical zone on the weekly chart: the lower boundary of its multi-year ascending channel.

The stock has broadly respected this rising channel since 2018, with several major rallies and corrections unfolding within its boundaries.

After reaching a high near ₹2,129, the stock has corrected sharply and is now trading around ₹1,685.

The key zone I'm watching is ₹1,650–₹1,700.

📊 Why this zone matters

This is not just an ordinary support level. It represents the lower boundary of a long-term rising channel that has guided the stock's broader trend for years.

🟢 Scenario 1: Channel support holds

If buyers defend this zone and price forms a convincing reversal structure, a recovery toward ₹1,800–₹1,900 could be the first step.

A sustained recovery could bring ₹2,000–₹2,130 back into focus.

The bullish case, however, needs confirmation from price action.

🔴 Scenario 2: Channel breakdown

If SBI Life decisively breaks below the lower trendline and fails to reclaim it, the long-term structure could weaken significantly.

In that case, lower zones around ₹1,500 and ₹1,300 could become relevant areas to monitor.

🧠 What about the life insurance sector?

SBI Life delivered strong Q1 FY27 results, with net premium income rising approximately 17% year over year and value of new business growing 29%.

However, September's industry data showed slower individual premium growth, with SBI Life's individual APE declining 2.3% year over year.

This suggests that the business backdrop remains constructive in some areas, but near-term growth momentum deserves close monitoring.

🎯 My takeaway

I'm not treating this as a blind buying opportunity.

I'm watching whether the stock can defend its long-term channel and establish a bullish reversal.

₹1,650–₹1,700 is the decision zone.

If the channel holds, a recovery setup could emerge. If it breaks decisively, the long-term structure needs to be reassessed.
