15 Min ORB Real Version MNQ

Opening Range Breakout (Real Version) – 15M | MNQ
A professional-grade Opening Range Breakout strategy built for MNQ Micro Futures. Unlike traditional ORB systems that trigger on any wick through the range, this strategy requires a full candle close outside the range with volume confirmation — eliminating the false breakouts that destroy most retail ORB systems.
How It Works
The first 30 minutes of the NY session (9:30–10:00AM ET) defines the Opening Range. This range represents the market's indecision zone at open — the battleground between buyers and sellers. Once the range is locked, the strategy waits for a decisive, volume-confirmed breakout.
Entry Logic
Opening range built from 9:30–10:00AM ET and locked at 10:00AM
Entry triggers on a full candle CLOSE above the range high (long) or below the range low (short)
Volume confirmation required — breakout bar must exceed 1.5x average volume
Retest entry included — if price breaks out then pulls back to the range edge and holds, a second entry fires
One trade per direction per session
Exit Logic
TP1 at 35% of ORB range extension — closes 50% of position
TP2 at 100% of ORB range extension — runner
Breakeven stop activated after TP1 hit
Stop placed at opposite side of ORB range
All positions closed by 3:50PM ET
Risk Management
$500 max daily loss limit
Breakeven stop on runner — worst case is a scratch trade, never a full loss on TP2
EOD forced flat — no overnight exposure
Backtested Results (Sep 2025 – Apr 2026)
Profit Factor: 1.624
Win Rate: 71%
