COT Multi-Symbol Screener with direct CFTC code input

COT Multi-Symbol Screener – Commercial COT Index for 13 Markets at a Glance
OVERVIEW
See where the "smart money" stands across 13 futures markets, all in one table on any chart.
The COT Multi-Symbol Screener turns the CFTC's weekly Commitments of Traders data into a clear, color-coded dashboard. For every market it shows where the Commercials (the hedgers: producers, processors and merchants) are positioned compared with their own recent history. You don't need to open 13 charts or go through raw CFTC reports. The extremes, the fresh signals and the markets that need attention are visible right away.
Whether you trade crude oil, gold, grains, softs, livestock or equity index futures, this screener gives you a fast, structured first look at positioning across your whole watchlist.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
WHY THE COMMERCIALS?
Commercial traders are the businesses that actually produce, process or use the underlying commodity. They hedge large volumes and are often considered the best-informed group in the market. Their positioning tends to be contrarian: they typically buy into weakness and sell into strength.
The COT Index puts their net position (Commercial Long minus Commercial Short) on a scale from 0 to 100 within a lookback window:
▸ 100 = the most bullish commercial positioning within the window
▸ 0 = the most bearish commercial positioning within the window
This makes markets comparable, no matter how different their contract sizes or open interest are.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS
▸ 13 markets in one table
Crude oil, gold, silver, heating oil, KC wheat, coffee, Nasdaq, natural gas, S&P 500, wheat, corn, soybeans and live cattle are preset. Every slot can be changed to any supported market in seconds.
▸ A fixed, familiar layout
The table always has the same 13 rows and 7 columns. Every market keeps its place, so your eye knows exactly where to look each week.
▸ Two lookback periods side by side
Compare a medium-term view (default: 26 weeks) with a long-term view (default: 52 weeks) in a single row. Short-term shifts and the bigger picture are visible at the same time.
▸ Double-signal highlighting
When both intervals are in the bullish or the bearish zone at the same time, the symbol cell is colored. These rare moments stand out immediately, so the strongest setups are easy to spot.
▸ Fresh-signal arrows (▲ / ▼)
The cross columns mark markets that have just moved into the bullish or bearish zone with the latest report. You see right away what is new this week and what was already there.
▸ The same values on every chart and timeframe
The COT values are calculated from the weekly reports themselves, not from the chart bars. Whether you look at a 5-minute, 4-hour, daily or weekly chart, and no matter which symbol is on the chart, the table always shows the same, consistent values.
▸ Release-aware mode, no look-ahead
COT data reflects positions as of Tuesday but is only published on Friday afternoon (New York time). With "Hide current week" enabled, the screener only uses a report after its official release. Your view matches what traders could actually know at that point in time.
▸ Futures only or Futures + Options
With one switch you can change between the classic "Futures only" report and the combined "Futures + Options" report.
▸ Flexible symbol input
Type a familiar root symbol such as CL, GC or ZC (upper or lower case). A large built-in mapping covers currencies, stock indices, energy, metals, grains, softs, livestock and interest rates. If a market is not covered, enter the CFTC code directly. A directly entered code always takes precedence.
▸ Transparent status and release date
Each row shows whether the data loaded correctly and the publication date of the report in use. You always know how current the information is.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
HOW TO READ THE TABLE
▸ Header row – black background with white text, showing the active interval lengths (e.g. "Idx 26 W").
▸ Symbol – the market root. Colored with the bullish or bearish color when a double signal is active, otherwise gray.
▸ Idx 26 W / Idx 52 W – the COT Index (0–100) for each interval. Bullish color above the bullish threshold, bearish color below the bearish threshold, gray in between.
▸ Cross 26 W / Cross 52 W – ▲ = just crossed above the bullish threshold, ▼ = just crossed below the bearish threshold (compared with the prior report).
▸ Status – "OK", "Invalid root" (unknown symbol and no CFTC code) or "COT data missing".
▸ Release date – the publication date (Friday, New York time) of the report currently in use.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
SETTINGS EXPLAINED
Every setting has a built-in tooltip. Hover over the (i) icon in the settings panel for a quick explanation.
TABLE
▸ Symbol column title – your own header text for the first column (visual only).
▸ Table position – where the table appears on the chart (9 positions).
▸ Text color – text color of the table cells (the header row always uses white text on black).
▸ Bullish color (background) – used for bullish index values, double bullish signals and the "OK" status.
▸ Bearish color (background) – used for bearish index values, double bearish signals and error states.
SETTINGS
▸ Include Options (Futures + Options) – off: "Futures only" report; on: combined "Futures + Options" report. Applies to all markets.
▸ Hide current week – uses a new report only after its Friday release (15:30 New York); before that, the previous report is used. Recommended for clean, realistic historical review.
▸ Bearish threshold (lower limit) – default 25, range 0–100. Index values below this level count as bearish.
▸ Bullish threshold (upper limit) – default 75, range 0–100. Index values above this level count as bullish.
The bearish threshold must be lower than the bullish threshold; otherwise the script shows a clear error message.
Tip: tighter thresholds such as 10 / 90 show only the most extreme positioning.
INTERVALS
▸ Interval 1 (weeks) – default 26. Lookback of the first COT Index, counted in weekly reports.
▸ Interval 2 (weeks) – default 52. Lookback of the second COT Index.
Popular combinations: 26 / 52 (medium vs. long term), 13 / 26 (more responsive), 52 / 156 (multi-year extremes).
SYMBOLS (ROOT / OPTIONAL CFTC CODE)
▸ Root 1–13 – the futures root symbol for each row (e.g. CL, GC, ES, ZC). Not case-sensitive.
▸ CFTC – optional CFTC contract market code. If filled in, it takes precedence over the root. Use it for markets that are not in the built-in mapping.
▸ The table always shows all 13 rows. A row without Root and CFTC code stays visible with the status "Invalid root".
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
SUPPORTED ROOT SYMBOLS (BUILT-IN MAPPING)
▸ Currencies: 6A/AUD, 6B/GBP, 6C/CAD, 6E/EUR, 6J/JPY, 6L/BRL, 6M/MXN, 6N/NZD, 6S/CHF, 6Z/ZAR, DX, BTC, ETH

▸ Livestock & dairy: LE, GF, HE, DC
▸ Interest rates: ZT, ZF, ZN, ZB, UB, SR3
Any other CFTC-reported market can be added through its CFTC code.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
TYPICAL USE CASES
▸ Weekly routine: after the Friday release, check the table for new ▲ / ▼ arrows and colored symbol cells.
▸ Watchlist filter: narrow down which markets deserve a closer look on the price chart.
▸ Context for your setups: combine COT extremes with your own technical entry signals, trend filters or seasonal analysis.
▸ Cross-market comparison: see at once which sectors show extreme commercial positioning.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
GOOD TO KNOW
▸ COT data is weekly. Values change once per week, after the CFTC release.
▸ The release time is based on the regular Friday schedule. Releases moved by holidays are not detected automatically.
▸ The screener uses the Legacy report (Commercial positions).
▸ COT positioning describes the market context. It is not a timing signal on its own and works best together with price action and risk management.
