[blackcat] L2 Kondratieff Wave Macro Cycle

2 456
█ OVERVIEW

This indicator maps the four seasons of the Kondratieff long wave (the 50-60 year economic cycle) onto your chart as a colored regime background. A live status table shows the current wave number, phase, progress and the long-horizon allocation bias of each season — a macro context layer for strategic thinking, not a timing tool.

█ CONCEPTS

The Kondratieff Wave is a long-cycle framework describing 50-60 year swings in prices, interest rates and technology deployment. Each wave is read as four seasons:

 • Spring (Recovery): new technologies reach industrial scale, growth assets re-rate
 • Summer (Prosperity): diffusion broadens, equities and trend assets lead
 • Autumn (Recession): growth slows while prices stay elevated; real assets shine
 • Winter (Depression): deleveraging dominates; capital preservation is key

The script ships with a consensus academic timeline (1780-2080) split into consecutive seasonal windows. Bars are colored by the season their year falls in, so an ultra-long history such as SPX (data back to 1871) reads as a sequence of macro regimes at a glance.

█ HOW TO USE

1 — Load the indicator on a yearly (1Y) or quarterly (3M) chart; lower timeframes work but add noise. The Chart TF table row tells you whether the current timeframe is ideal.
2 — Read the background color to see which season each bar belongs to.
3 — Use the status table: Wave (number, phase 1-4), Current Phase, Progress (10-block bar + %), Phase Window, Next Phase countdown, Macro Bias and Chart TF check.
4 — If you follow a different chronology school, the phase years sit in one clearly commented block of the source and are easy to adjust.

Input Parameters
 • Phase Color Settings: one color per season (defaults teal/green/orange/red, 85 transparency)
 • Mark Historical Phase Transitions: toggles seasonal boundary labels (default on)
 • Show Current Phase Label: live phase label on the last bar (default on)
 • Show Status Table / Table Position: dashboard toggle and corner placement

█ FEATURES

 • Four-season regime background, fully customizable colors
 • Enhanced 8-row status dashboard with unicode progress bar and next-phase countdown
 • Historical phase transition markers, wave starts emphasized
 • Phase change alertcondition for regime shifts
 • Out-of-range year warning instead of a silently blank table

█ VISUAL ELEMENTS

 • Background fill: seasonal regime color of each bar's year
 • Labels below bar: seasonal transitions; the diamond prefix marks a full wave start
 • Label above last bar: current phase name
 • Macro Bias row: the classic long-cycle allocation tilt per season (growth, equities, real assets, preservation)

█ IMPLEMENTATION NOTES

Open source. A user-defined type holds each window (start/end year, label, season key, color). Each bar's year is matched against the timeline once; an edge detector compares the matched index with the previous bar's, so transition markers and the alert fire exactly once per regime change. The dashboard is var-managed and refreshed only on the last bar. No request.security, no repainting.

█ LIMITATIONS

 • Kondratieff dating is school-dependent; the built-in grid is a consensus approximation, not a fact
 • Phases beyond the present are projections and will be revised by future research
 • This is a strategic regime overlay: it generates no buy/sell signals and has no short-term timing value
 • On intraday or daily charts the background still works but the tool's meaning degrades — use 1Y or 3M

█ NOTES

 • Best paired with long-history symbols such as SPX, gold or long bond series
 • Educational tool for macro context. Not investment advice.
