ICT 5 Days ADR & Volume

**ICT 5 Days ADR & Volume**

A lower-pane tool for intraday and daily work. It puts **5-day Average Daily Range (ADR)**, **today’s cumulative range since the session open**, and **volume** in one place so you can see how far the current session has moved relative to recent typical daily volatility.

---

**What it shows**

- **Black line (5-Day ADR)** — Average of the daily high–low range over the **last five completed trading days**, in **ticks** (`syminfo.mintick`). On intraday charts the line is drawn as **one horizontal segment per exchange calendar day** (line breaks at each new daily session).
- **Blue line (Today Range)** — **Cumulative** session range from the **current day’s open** through the present bar: running session high minus running session low, also in ticks. It steps up when new highs or lows are made and stays flat when price stays inside the day’s range.
- **Volume columns** — Styled like the built-in Volume indicator (green when close ≥ open, red otherwise). Bar **heights are scaled** into the ADR pane so volume and ADR share one scale; **hover the crosshair** or open the **Data Window** to see **actual volume** (K/M formatting).

Day boundaries follow **TradingView’s exchange daily session** (`"D"`), not a custom timezone.

---

**How to use it**

- Compare the **blue line** to the **black line**: when today’s cumulative range approaches or exceeds the 5-day ADR, the session is expanding relative to recent norms.
- Use **volume** alongside range to see whether expansion or contraction happens with participation (remember: on FX/CFDs, volume is **tick volume** from your broker/data feed).
- Works on any timeframe; ADR values are computed from the **daily** series and displayed on your current chart timeframe.

---

**Settings**

| Input | Description |
|--------|-------------|
| **Show volume** | Toggle volume columns and volume readout on crosshair/data window. |
| **Show 5-day ADR** | Toggle the black ADR line and blue today-range line. |

Fixed internally (not user inputs): **5-day** ADR length, **~90 calendar days** of plotted history, volume scaling reference over the last **100 bars** at the start of the visible window.

---

**Calculation notes**

- 5-day ADR uses **completed daily bars only** (`[1]` on the daily series with `lookahead_on`) to avoid repainting the ADR level with the **incomplete** current day.
- ADR and today’s range are expressed in **ticks**, so the right scale shows instrument-appropriate integers (e.g. forex pipettes, futures minimum increments).
- Only the most recent **90 days** are drawn; older bars are not plotted (calculations may still use prior data where needed).

---

**Limitations**

- Volume bars are **not** on a separate left-axis volume scale; they are **proportionally scaled** to fit the ADR pane. Use crosshair/data window for true volume values.
- **Today Range** is cumulative session range, not per-bar range; flat blue segments are expected when no new session high or low is made.
- Intended as a **context** tool, not a standalone signal generator. Combine with your own structure, sessions, and risk rules.
