[Thies] 0DTE MTF Confluence Edge

617
0DTE Multi-Timeframe Confluence Detector

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Summary
This indicator helps traders identify when multiple timeframes align bullish or bearish using a combination of:
  • Price direction
  • Volume participation
  • Delta-style pressure
  • SPY + ES1! confirmation
  • VIX1D volatility regime analysis

Instead of relying on a single chart signal, this script evaluates four customizable timeframes simultaneously and combines them into one aggregate confluence score.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
HOW IT WORKS

Each timeframe receives a score:

  • +1 = Bullish alignment
  • -1 = Bearish alignment
  • 0 = Neutral / mixed conditions

A timeframe is considered bullish when:

  • Volume is above its moving average
  • Delta pressure is positive
  • Price closes above the open

A timeframe is considered bearish when:

  • Volume is above its moving average
  • Delta pressure is negative
  • Price closes below the open

The four timeframe scores are combined into a total confluence score ranging from -4 to +4.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

CONFLUENCE SCORE GUIDE

  • +4 = Maximum bullish alignment
  • +3 = Strong bullish confluence
  • +1 to +2 = Mixed bullish pressure
  • 0 = No directional edge
  • -1 to -2 = Mixed bearish pressure
  • -3 = Strong bearish confluence
  • -4 = Maximum bearish alignment

VIX1D REGIME FILTER

The script also classifies the current short-term implied volatility environment using VIX1D.

  • COMPRESSED = Low volatility environment
  • NORMAL = Balanced conditions
  • ELEVATED = Increased movement potential
  • EXTREME = High-risk / high-volatility environment

This helps contextualize whether momentum conditions are expanding or compressing.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
DASHBOARD FEATURES

The built-in dashboard displays:

  • Signal direction for each timeframe
  • Bullish / bearish alignment
  • Aggregate confluence score
  • Current VIX1D regime
  • Real-time NY session clock

Strong signals also trigger background highlighting for quick visual recognition.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
HOW TO USE

  • Use strong bullish readings to confirm long setups
  • Use strong bearish readings to confirm short setups
  • Avoid low-confluence environments when score hovers near zero
  • Combine with VWAP, market structure, liquidity levels, or opening range analysis
  • Use VIX1D regime data to adjust expectations for volatility and expansion

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

BEST USED FOR

  • 0DTE options trading
  • Intraday index trading
  • SPY and ES momentum analysis
  • Scalping and day trading
  • Multi-timeframe directional confirmation

█ WHAT'S NEW IN V2

V2 is a full accuracy overhaul of the original MTF Confluence Edge. The core scoring
engine, volume logic, and alert system were all rebuilt to address structural issues
that caused false signals in the original version.

Signal Engine
The biggest change is how volume and delta are calculated. V1 added SPY shares directly
to ES contracts — structurally invalid since they operate on completely different scales.
V2 normalizes each instrument against its own 20-bar volume MA, producing a unitless
relative volume reading, then averages the two. This means ES and SPY contribute equally
to the score regardless of their nominal volume differences.

Delta is no longer binary (bullish candle = full positive delta). V2 uses a proportional
pressure formula: (close - low) / range, scaled to -1 to +1. A doji with high volume
now reads near zero instead of full bull or bear — a meaningful distinction for 0DTE flow.

Timeframe Accuracy
In V1, the delta EMA ran on chart bars, not the target timeframe. A "5m delta" was
actually a chart-TF EMA applied to 5m values, introducing double-smoothing and lag.
V2 computes the full score inside the security call so each timeframe's logic runs
entirely in its own context.

New Controls
• Non-Repainting Mode — when enabled, scores reference the last completed bar
on each higher timeframe. Eliminates mid-bar signal flips at the cost of one bar lag.
• RTH Session Filter — zeroes all scores outside 09:30-16:00 ET by default.
Pre-market volume against an overnight-inclusive MA was skewing early session reads.
• Alert Persistence — score must hold at or beyond the threshold for N consecutive
chart bars before an alert fires. Default is 2 bars. Eliminates single-bar alert churn.
• Relative Volume Min — replaces the hardcoded volume-vs-MA comparison.
Tune how active volume must be before a timeframe scores.

Dashboard
Added RelVol (x multiple) and Delta columns per timeframe so you can see why each
timeframe scored the way it did. Mode (Live vs Confirmed) and session status now
display as dedicated rows.

Direction Agreement
V2 requires both SPY and ES to agree on candle direction before a timeframe scores.
V1 only checked SPY price direction.

█ LIMITATIONS

True tick-level delta (up volume vs down volume) is not available for dynamic multi-TF
inputs in Pine. The proportional range formula used here is a solid proxy but is not
equivalent to actual order flow data. For genuine delta by timeframe, a dedicated
lower-TF companion indicator would be required.

Non-Repainting Mode introduces one HTF bar of lag on higher timeframes. On the 60m
timeframe this can mean signals confirm up to 59 minutes late. Use Live mode for
real-time entries with the understanding that HTF scores may repaint intrabar.
