🟩 RedK MagicRibbon Pro (RedK_MaR Pro) — Release Notes

RedK MagicRibbon Pro (RedK_MaR Pro) is a dual-timeframe trend and momentum chart analysis tool. It enables traders to visualize both trend and momentum on the current (Analysis) timeframe and on the higher (Context) timeframe at once — on a single chart — and shows whether the momentum across the two timeframes aligns.

I built RedK MagicRibbon Pro out of my own trading analysis needs over the past few years. I found that I kept flipping between two charts — one for the timeframe I was analyzing, and another showing the higher timeframe so I could check the broader context around the trade. RedK_MaR Pro grew from the idea of bringing that second chart into the first: reading the higher-timeframe momentum (represented by a pair of fast/slow moving averages) directly projected onto my working chart. I then combined this simple concept with the original MagicRibbon indicator code. RedK MagicRibbon Pro continues to evolve as I add more day-to-day, trading-specific features, alerts, and screening functions - and is still a core component of my trading setup today.

RedK_MaR Pro is the extended version of the open-source RedK Magic Ribbon, which remains freely available and works exactly as published.

💡 The Concept Behind RedK MagicRibbon Pro

A trade analysis and decision usually depends on more than one timeframe — a trader needs to ensure, as they "design" a trade, that the wind is at their back: that they take a trade that aligns with the broader context - the trader should seek to swim with the currents, and not against them. A setup that looks clean on your current chart may contradict the broader price structure of the higher timeframe. Ensuring that alignment across timeframes normally means opening a second chart for the higher (Context) timeframe and looking at two or more charts, which adds burden to the trader and creates inefficiency in the analysis.

RedK_MaR Pro is built on a simple observation: a pair of moving averages on a higher timeframe (representing momentum) can be closely approximated by a slower pair on the current, lower-timeframe chart. For example, using a 5× multiplier relationship between the 1D and 1W timeframes, a 50/100 pair on your daily chart behaves much like a 10/20 pair on the weekly chart (one timeframe up) — so you can see the higher-timeframe state without leaving your working chart. The same concept applies between the 10min chart and the 1H chart (with a multiplier of ~6×).

RedK MagicRibbon Pro presents this concept in three layers:

• Layer 1 — the Ribbon itself (Fast + Proxy lines): a fast, responsive read of short-term price action.
• Layer 2 — the Analysis moving-average pair (Mood + Bias): the momentum state of your current timeframe; drives the on-chart alignment markers.
• Layer 3 — the Context moving-average pair (Context Fast + Context Slow): representing the Analysis MA pair, but from one timeframe higher. This is the "dual-timeframe momentum" element — the "second chart" folded into the first.

Read together, these 3 layers answer one question: are short-term price action, current-timeframe trend and momentum, and higher-timeframe context all aligned the same way?

📈 The Ribbon — Layer 1

The ribbon is the original MagicRibbon core, built on two of my custom moving averages:

• The Fast Line uses the Compound Ratio Weighted Average (CoRa Wave): a low-lag, highly responsive moving average that represents the faster side of the ribbon.

• The Proxy Line uses the RedK Slow Smooth Weighted Moving Average (RSS_WMA), aka LazyLine by default: a smooth, low-noise moving average that represents the slower side of the ribbon. It can also be set to EMA, HMA, SMA, or WMA.

When the two lines agree on direction, the ribbon fills green (up) or red (down); when they disagree, the fill is gray — reflecting a "get ready" or "no interest" zone.

Tip: in my own trading, I hide the ribbon to minimize "visual extras". I use the Proxy Line extensively, as for me it represents the price itself, being set to move even faster than the Mood MA (explained below).

📐 The MA Pairs — Layers 2 and 3 (the dual-timeframe core)

RedK MagicRibbon Pro provides two fast/slow MA pairs, visualized on the same chart:

• Analysis MA pair — Mood MA and Bias MA, native to your current chart. The Mood MA (faster) reflects the short-term price state (the price "mood"); the Bias MA (slower) reflects the current timeframe's longer-term bias.

• Context MA pair — Context Fast MA and Context Slow MA, mirroring the Analysis pair one timeframe higher. By the ~5× relationship in the example above, the defaults approximate the Mood and Bias MAs read from a 1W chart onto a 1D chart — or from a 15min chart onto a 3min chart. Price above the Context pair means higher-timeframe momentum is bullish; below means bearish — you read the broader context without switching charts.

All four MAs are fully adjustable (type, length, source), each with a tooltip explaining its role.

A note on the Moving Average defaults: the default MA lengths and types — 10, 20, 50, and 100, all Simple Moving Averages — are my own daily drivers, settled on after years of testing and experimenting with my go-to moving averages. They are the values I actually trade with, offered as a tested starting point rather than a generic guess. They were also chosen because they are common values used by many traders and trading systems. Adjust these settings to match what you trade and your own trading style.
For example, some traders prefer the use of 9 / 21 EMA pair for analysis — so those become your Mood and Bias MAs; multiply them by your preferred context-timeframe multiplier to set the Context Fast and Slow lengths, or choose discretionary values that bring in the context insight you need. The possible combinations are unlimited.

🎨 The Visual Template

Bringing the Context MA pair into the chart as a core element — not optional, as in the original RedK Magic Ribbon — means the chart now carries six moving averages of varying lengths, in addition to the price bars. That can make a chart crowded and hard to read. So the visual defaults are deliberate: I've tuned the line styles and colors for eye comfort and fast mental interpretation, so a trader can read the chart's state at a glance.

The convention follows my own personal template, which I keep consistent across the charting and trading platforms I use: blue tones for the slow/context lines, purple/magenta for the faster lines, and distinct line styles (dotted, dashed, solid) to separate each MA's role instantly. I recommend adopting a similar visual color-and-style code on your own charts — a standard visual language makes analysis faster and more consistent, which tends to translate into better trading decisions.

🟢🔴 Alignment Markers — the Analysis-Timeframe Signal

When the ribbon and the Analysis pair line up — Proxy, Mood, and Bias stacked in the same direction, with the Proxy trending that way — RedK MagicRibbon Pro plots Alignment Markers on the Proxy Line: green for a bullish aligned state, red for bearish. These markers signal the moments the current timeframe's price action and momentum agree (regardless of context).

A Bullish alignment structure is detected when the Proxy Line is moving up (green) AND Proxy Line >= Mood MA >= Bias MA.

A Bearish alignment structure is the exact mirror to the downside when Proxy Line is moving down (red) AND Proxy Line <= Mood MA <= Bias MA

When the Alignment Markers show up with a supportive Context MA pair underneath, all three layers are aligned and that is when a full dual-timeframe alignment is detected (see below).

🔗 Full Cross-Timeframe Alignment

A full momentum alignment requires that all five lines — Proxy, Mood, Bias, Context Fast, and Context Slow — become stacked in the proper order, in the same direction. When this happens, price action, current-timeframe momentum, and higher-timeframe context all point the same way. This state is exposed as an alert the user can set — and it can also be used with the Pine Screener to run a scan across a whole watchlist or a universe of stocks on a given exchange.

Tip: if you want a single MA as a "Context filter," set Context Fast and Context Slow to the same length rather than hiding one of them — this keeps alerts and scans working in that scenario.

📖 Reading the RedK MagicRibbon Pro Chart

Suggested reading sequence:

• Short-term: read the ribbon — fill color and Proxy direction.
• Current timeframe: look for alignment markers and the Mood/Bias stack.
• Higher timeframe: check price against the Context pair, then confirm all three layers agree.

Like any technical tool, RedK_MaR Pro is meant to be read alongside your own analysis. It describes momentum and alignment states — it does not predict.

🎯 Using RedK_MaR Pro with Pine Screener

Combined with the Pine Screener, you can scan any stock list or watchlist for names matching the signal you choose — then further investigate those names for potential trade setups.

Here's a step-by-step example:
• Open Pine Screener from the Products menu.
• Choose your symbol source (e.g. Nifty 500).
• Click Add Indicator, load RedK_MaR Pro (it appears under "Invite Only" once you have access).
• Set your timeframe and your MA parameters in the indicator settings.
• Keep the columns you need; filter, for example, where "Proxy Line Swing Up" is true on 1D, then click Screen. In the screenshot below, we scan the Nifty 500 and the result is a set of 15 stocks where we detected a fresh swing up of price that we can then target.
• You can right-click individual names to analyze them, or export the results to a watchlist or a CSV file.

📝 Notes on Use and Limitations
==================================================================================

• Tune the ribbon first. Adjust the Proxy Line (RSS_WMA) length so it tracks and barely touches price highs/lows with the least lag, then set the CoRa Wave length for responsiveness. Keep smoothing low (3–4 max).
• The defaults are my own. 10/20/50/100 SMA are my own settings I trade with. Adjust them to your own analysis and trading style.
• The ~5× relationship is an approximation. If you change lengths, keep the fast/slow separation in mind so the two pairs stay meaningful.
• Averaging method changes character. WMA and HMA respond faster; SMA, EMA, and RMA behave more conventionally.
• This is an insight tool, not a signal service. The markers and alerts describe momentum and alignment states — not advice, and no predictive claim.
• This script does not repaint.

The original RedK Magic Ribbon remains open-source. RedK_MaR Pro is invite-only.
