Master the Market Structure | 8 Essential Chart Patterns

175
This chart patterns help traders understand market structure, consolidation, possible reversals, and potential continuation moves. The key is not simply spotting a pattern — you should also wait for price confirmation at important support or resistance levels.

1️⃣ DOUBLE TOP — BEARISH REVERSAL 📉

A Double Top generally develops after a strong uptrend. Price pushes upward and reaches a resistance area, pulls back, then returns to approximately the same high for a second attempt. When buyers fail again, momentum may weaken.
The low between the two highs creates the neckline. A confirmed break below this neckline can provide evidence that sellers are gaining control and that the market may shift toward a bearish structure.
Structure:

2️⃣ DOUBLE BOTTOM — BULLISH REVERSAL 📈

A Double Bottom generally forms after a downtrend. Price falls into a support area, bounces, returns to test the same area again, and once again finds buying interest.
The high between the two lows creates the neckline. If price confirms a breakout above this neckline, it can indicate that bearish momentum is weakening and bullish momentum may be developing.

3️⃣ HEAD & SHOULDERS — BEARISH REVERSAL 📉

The Head & Shoulders pattern usually develops after an uptrend and contains three major peaks.
The first peak forms the Left Shoulder, the middle peak becomes the Head, and the final peak forms the Right Shoulder. The Head is normally higher than both shoulders.
The lows between these structures create the neckline. A confirmed break below the neckline can indicate a potential shift from bullish to bearish market structure.

4️⃣ INVERSE HEAD & SHOULDERS — BULLISH REVERSAL 📈

This is essentially the opposite structure of a regular Head & Shoulders and commonly appears after a downtrend price forms a Left Shoulder, falls to a deeper Head, then forms a Right Shoulder at a higher level. The highs between these lows create the neckline.
A confirmed breakout above the neckline can indicate that sellers are losing control and buyers are becoming stronger.

5️⃣ BULLISH FLAG — BULLISH CONTINUATION 📈

A Bullish Flag usually appears after a strong upward price movement. Instead of immediately continuing higher, price enters a temporary consolidation or pullback.
The flag creates a smaller corrective structure while the larger bullish trend remains intact. A confirmed breakout above the flag's upper boundary can indicate potential continuation of the previous bullish move.

6️⃣ BEARISH FLAG — BEARISH CONTINUATION 📉

A Bearish Flag is the opposite of a Bullish Flag. It generally appears after a strong downward movement price temporarily moves upward or consolidates against the previous bearish move. If price later breaks below the lower boundary of the flag, it can indicate potential continuation of the bearish trend.
Structure:

7️⃣ BULLISH TRIANGLE — UPSIDE BREAKOUT 📈

A Bullish Triangle represents a period of price compression. The market moves inside narrowing boundaries as buyers and sellers compete around important levels.
As the range becomes smaller, price approaches the apex of the triangle. A confirmed breakout above resistance can indicate increasing bullish momentum.

8️⃣ BEARISH TRIANGLE — DOWNSIDE BREAKOUT 📉

A Bearish Triangle also represents market compression, but the setup shown focuses on a potential downside break Price repeatedly interacts with support while the upper boundary slopes downward. If sellers eventually push price below the support level, the breakdown can indicate potential bearish continuation.
