NZD/USD: CAN THE KIWI BREAK THROUGH RESISTANCE?

106
The New Zealand dollar has staged an impressive recovery after rebounding from its recent lows. Buyers managed to regain control and push the pair back toward a key resistance area that has repeatedly capped previous rallies.

This is often where markets reveal their true intentions.

Strong rebounds can easily attract optimism, but experienced traders know that the most important question is not how quickly price rallied—it's whether buyers can maintain control once resistance comes into play.

At the moment, NZD/USD is testing a major supply zone. This area previously attracted selling pressure, making it a logical place for the market to pause. Consolidation after an impulsive advance is perfectly normal, and the reaction here will likely determine the next directional move.

Bullish Scenario

If buyers absorb the available supply and manage to secure a confirmed breakout above resistance, the current recovery could evolve into a broader bullish continuation. Breakouts from well-defined resistance zones often trigger fresh buying interest as traders who were waiting on the sidelines begin to participate.

However, a breakout alone is rarely enough. Strong trends usually become much more convincing when price can hold above the former resistance, turning it into new support.

Bearish Scenario

Failure to break through the supply zone would suggest that sellers are still defending higher prices. In that case, a pullback toward the first demand area would not necessarily invalidate the current recovery. Instead, it could represent a healthy correction after a strong impulsive move.

Only a deeper decline toward the major demand zone would begin to weaken the current bullish structure and increase the probability of a broader reversal.

For now, patience may be the most valuable strategy. Rather than predicting the next move, traders should focus on how price behaves around resistance. Markets often provide the best opportunities only after confirming whether buyers or sellers have truly taken control.

The strongest technical setups usually appear when the market forces participants to make a decision. That is exactly where NZD/USD finds itself now.

Question for discussion:

Do you prefer entering immediately after a breakout, or do you wait for confirmation before taking a position?
