Overview
MNQ Mission Control is a comprehensive decision-support dashboard built for intraday futures traders, specifically tuned for NQ/MNQ and ES/MES. Rather than producing buy/sell arrows, it acts as an accountability layer — synthesizing market internals, multi-timeframe trend structure, momentum, support/resistance proximity, and real-time risk/reward into a single unified score that helps traders avoid impulsive entries and stay aligned with higher-probability setups.
The core philosophy: a good dashboard tells you when NOT to trade just as clearly as when to engage. Signals are gated by R:R viability, trend alignment, and breadth confirmation, so the dashboard will actively block trades that look directionally correct but are structurally late or poorly located.

How to Use
Add the indicator to your NQ/MNQ or ES/MES chart (5m or 3m recommended for the primary execution timeframe).
Configure the VIX symbol input to match the feed you monitor elsewhere (TVC:VIX or CBOE:VIX — these can diverge slightly).
Set the Internals Refresh Timeframe based on your preference for freshness vs. stability (30s for active scalping, 1m for swing/positional intraday).
Read the dashboard top-down: Master score → Risk/Reward → Trend → VWAP → Levels → Market state → Internals → VIX → Quality → Day Type → Playbook.
Respect the BLOCKED states. If the dashboard says SHORT BLOCKED with a poor R:R, the directional bias is correct but the entry location is not. Wait for a pullback that improves R:R.
Combine timeframes. A WAIT on the lower TF with a clear directional bias on the higher TF often signals "wait for pullback, then engage."
Recommended Settings

v9 UPDATE — Day-Trader Stop Cap

WHY THIS UPDATE MATTERS
ATR-based stops adapt to volatility, which is great —
but ATR is also timeframe-dependent. A 30-minute ATR
is naturally much larger than a 5-minute ATR because
30m bars contain more price action. The result: on
higher-timeframe charts, the indicator was suggesting
stop distances of 100-150+ points, which is appropriate
for multi-day swing trades but completely wrong for
intraday day trading.
The downstream effect was painful: those oversized
stops crushed the risk/reward calculation, which then
triggered the "LONG BLOCKED" or "SHORT BLOCKED" state
on setups that were directionally valid and would have
been clean trades on the 5-minute chart. Same instrument,
same moment in time, different verdict — purely because
of how ATR scales with timeframe.
THE FIX
Stop distance is now calculated two ways and the smaller
value wins:
1. Chart-native: current ATR × stop multiplier
(the old behavior, still used as the baseline)
2. 5-minute reference cap: 5-minute ATR × cap multiplier
(the new sanity check)
The 5-minute timeframe is treated as the "reference"
for what a reasonable intraday stop looks like. Higher
timeframes are still allowed to confirm trend direction,
HTF alignment, and structural context — but their stop
sizing gets pulled back to day-trader-appropriate levels.
WHAT YOU'LL SEE
On a 5-minute chart: No change to stop distance, no
📌 pin shown. The chart's ATR equals the reference,
so the cap is effectively a no-op.
On a 1-minute or 3-minute chart: No change. Smaller
timeframes have smaller ATR than the 5m reference, so
the cap doesn't activate. Tight scalp stops stay tight.
On a 15-minute, 30-minute, or 1-hour chart: Stop
distance drops significantly. A 📌 pin appears next
to the stop value in the Risk row to confirm the cap
is active. Risk/reward recalculates automatically using
the capped stop, which means fewer false BLOCKED
signals on valid trade setups.
The single fix corrects every downstream symptom in
one place: better stops, better R:R math, fewer false
blocks. Because stopDistance feeds the entire risk
chain, fixing it once heals everything below it.
NEW INPUTS (🎯 Risk Group)
- Cap stop by 5-minute ATR (day-trader mode)
Master toggle. Default ON. Turn off only if you
actually swing-trade overnight and want higher-TF
charts to use full chart-native ATR for stops.
- Stop cap = this × 5m ATR
The multiplier applied to the 5-minute ATR. Default
1.5, which mirrors the existing stop multiplier so
the 5m chart is unaffected. Drop to 1.2 for tighter
intraday stops, raise to 2.0 if you're getting
stopped out on normal noise.
USAGE NOTES
This update is designed for intraday traders who
flatten positions before the close. If you genuinely
hold trades overnight or for multiple days, toggle
the cap off so your stops can scale with the larger
higher-timeframe ATR.
For everyone else: the default settings should "just
work" — the cap activates silently on higher
timeframes, the 📌 lets you see when it's doing its
job, and your dashboard finally shows agreement
across timeframes instead of contradictory verdicts.

v10 — Soft-Internals Trend PathFixes an issue where clear price-action trend days were mislabeled as "NORMAL (range)" when NYSE breadth (A/D) was only leaning directionally rather than strongly. Previously the live Trend Day override required A/D to reach the ±500 "moderate" threshold, so a soft breadth reading could veto an obvious trend even with both timeframes aligned, price riding the VWAP band, and the day covering 75%+ of daily ATR.
The override now has two paths: the original strict-breadth path (unchanged), plus a new optional soft path where overwhelming price structure can confirm a Trend Day as long as internals merely agree in direction and aren't conflicting. The soft path keys off Day % of ATR instead of IB extension, since extension is mathematically suppressed on wide-IB days.
Two new inputs under 📅 Day Type: a toggle for the soft path (default on) and a Day % ATR floor for it (default 75). Toggle the path off to revert to prior behavior. No other logic changed.

v17 — Level Engagement (the big one)What it actually fixes. Before this, parking near the high or low of day almost always read BLOCKED, even mid-trend. The cause was mechanical: at a fresh extreme during a strong push, the VWAP-band proximity check and the exhaustion engine (consecutive trend bars, VWAP stretch, volume climax) lit up together and tripped the "exhaustion at level" block. The dashboard couldn't tell the difference between price testing a level as resistance versus price making the level because it's the thing printing it right now.
The three states, and what each is telling you:
Expanding — fresh extreme within the last 2 bars, bar closed in the top/bottom third of its range, internals not diverging. This is the green light to stop fading your own trend. When you see this tag on the Risk row, the exhaustion-at-level block is suppressed and a strong continuation is allowed to read as live. Best use: this is your "it's okay to be in the trade while it's driving" confirmation — it does not mean enter blind, it means the dashboard is no longer vetoing a setup that price action already justifies.
Testing — at the extreme but no fresh print for several bars, or the bar is wicking. The level is acting as real resistance/support again, so the block returns. Best use: treat this exactly like the old behavior — this is where fades and rejections live, and where chasing gets punished.
Climax — 8+ consecutive trend bars with internals rolling over. Freshness this late is exhaustion, not strength, so the block stays on with a distinct label. Best use: this is the "the move is done, manage what you have, don't add" signal. It's the one that protects you from the top/bottom tick.
How to actually use it: let price action and your hand-drawn levels lead, as always. The tag is a second opinion on whether the move is alive or finished, not an entry trigger. The one number still worth pressure-testing live is the 8-bar climax edge — watch whether it feels early or late on your charts before touching it.
v16 — Room-Quality Ladder + Stop Modes
Room ladder. The Risk row now tells you how much room a scalp has on every trade — No room (<25pts) / Limited (25–40) / Scalp OK (40–60) / Room open (60+ or no real level ahead) — measured to the nearest real structure level, not an ATR guess. Best use: a fast pre-entry gut check. "Scalp OK" or "Room open" means your 40–60pt target has space; "Limited" or "No room" means you're entering into a wall and should either pass or treat it as a tiny scalp.
Stop modes. A dropdown — Conservative (30) / Normal (40) / Loose (50) / Custom — caps your scalp stop without editing numbers. Best use: this is the lever for the conservative-stop experiment we'd flagged. Normal (40) is your current behavior; flipping to Conservative (30) tightens R:R but you'll get stopped more on high-ATR days. Worth A/B-ing on a few sessions.
v15 — Scalp Risk Mode
This is the one that aligned the whole Risk row with how you actually trade. Instead of swing-sized targets, it evaluates each trade as a 40–60pt scalp: fixed target, fixed max stop, and it still defers to nearby structure when structure is closer than your scalp target. Best use: trust the R:R number on the Risk row now — it's finally computed against a scalp-realistic target, so a sub-1R reading is a genuine "this chase isn't worth it," not an artifact of a far-off swing level.
v11 — Intermarket Context (10Y Yield + NQ/ES)
Two context rows, display-only unless you opt them into the score. The 10Y yield moves inverse to the Nasdaq — falling yield supports your longs, rising yield supports your shorts, and a ⚠ flags a yield spike worth respecting. NQ vs ES shows whether tech is leading or lagging the broad market since the open. Best use: keep both off the score for now (they are by default) and read them as tiebreakers — if you're torn on a long and yields are spiking with NQ lagging ES, that's two soft strikes against it. The yield spike flag is the highest-value piece here; a sudden bond move is often the hidden reason a clean-looking setup fails.
