Wix, which was among the first companies to adopt AI technologies—enabling easier website creation, advanced automations, and capabilities that were previously unavailable—did not foresee the current shift.
Today, after being an early adopter of artificial intelligence, Wix has reached a point where this very technology poses a challenge to its core business. Users around the world are increasingly moving away from traditional website-building platforms such as Wix, Shopify, and others, instead leveraging AI tools and chat-based solutions to build websites independently.
Adding to this, Wix Israel has changed its stance on remote work and decided to require employees to return to office-based work for most of the week.
Now, turning to the stock chart.
Since the beginning of the year, Wix shares are down more than 16%. On a 12-month basis, the stock has declined by over 64%.
In November of last year, the stock broke below the psychological $100 level and began trading beneath it. The last time this occurred was in November 2023.
The stock is currently trading in a downtrend, with the 200-day moving average positioned above the 50-day moving average.
So what’s next? Will Wix be able to leverage artificial intelligence to reinvent itself? Will the stock return to an upward trend, or are we entering a prolonged period of uncertainty?
