M-Alpha-Leverage Guard - How Often Leverage Gets Wiped Out

What it does
M-Alpha-Leverage Guard draws, from the current price, the distance a long or a short can survive at 5x, 10x, 20x and 50x leverage before the margin is gone. Next to every line it shows how often this market actually moved that far against a position within your holding time, counted over the whole chart history.
How it works
1. Distance: margin is gone after a move of 1 / leverage (simplified: no maintenance margin and no fees, so real liquidations come a bit earlier).
2. History: for every past bar the script takes the close as an entry and checks the next bars covering your holding time (24 hours by default). If the low (long) or the high (short) reached the distance, that window counts as wiped out.
3. The share of wiped-out windows is printed on each line, separately for longs (below price) and shorts (above price).
Closed bars only, nothing repaints.
How to use it
- Set your leverage values and how long you usually hold a trade.
- Before opening a position, look at the line of your leverage: a high percentage means this market regularly moves that far within your holding time.
- Works on every symbol and timeframe; the holding time is converted into bars automatically.
What makes it different
- Liquidation calculators tell you where you get liquidated. This one tells you how often the market actually went there.
Limitations
- Simplified liquidation distance; exchange rules, maintenance margin, funding and fees are not included.
- The statistic is about the past of this chart and does not predict the next move.
