Squeeze Breakout Signals [bitpunk]

Squeeze Breakout Signals [bitpunk]
Squeeze Breakout draws a range around compressed price action, then marks its first close breakout and a later retest. You can follow the breakout or wait for price to return to the broken edge.
How to use it 🧭
Each range allows one breakout and one later retest entry, both in the first breakout's direction. An opposite break does not start a new entry on that box. The default watch is 20 bars, including the locking bar; a return does not restart it. A close at or through the opposite edge cancels a pending retest.

Alerts 🔔
Choose Any alert() function call for both entry directions; its close-confirmed messages identify BREAKOUT or RETEST. Use Long Entry / Short Entry to monitor one side. Observed-event alerts also include filtered events and can overlap entry alerts.
Enable Signals off hides entry markers and mutes all script alerts, while boxes and context remain. Recreate saved alerts after changing source or inputs.
Method and limits
At default settings, compression means 2 × standard deviation of closes is below 1.5 × mean true range over 20 bars. Three compressed closes prepare a range. This implementation pairs BB/KC compression with fixed boundaries, a time-limited watch and departure/return retests. Conceptual references: LazyBear's Squeeze Momentum and StockCharts' Bollinger Band Squeeze. Independent implementation, MPL-2.0.
Use standard time-based candles. Developing boxes can change; locked edges stay fixed. Breakouts and retests can fail. The script marks entries for chart analysis and does not manage exits.
Squeeze Breakout draws a range around compressed price action, then marks its first close breakout and a later retest. You can follow the breakout or wait for price to return to the broken edge.
How to use it 🧭
- Watch the box. A dotted box develops during compression. It becomes solid when the range locks, on the first close breakout or when compression ends.
- Read the breakout. A close above the upper edge opens a long setup; below the lower edge opens a short setup. A wick through the edge does not count as a close breakout.
- Or wait for a retest. For a long retest, an entire completed candle must first clear the area around the upper edge. Price then returns to that area and closes above the edge, on the return candle or a later candle. Reverse this for shorts.

Reading the chart 📊
- White ▲ / ▼: close-confirmed long / short entry indications.
- Small edge dots: probes or close breaks without an entry label.
- Edge diamonds: held retests without an entry label.
- Panel: current confirmed state and remaining closes. “filtered” means Retest Close Progress skipped that entry.

Useful settings ⚙️
- Retest Close Progress — on. A long retest must close above the previous close; a short retest below it. This can miss an early hold that later succeeds. Turn it off to remove this condition. Skipped retests are not signalled later; breakouts are unchanged.
- Max Entry Extension — 0. Zero leaves entry distance unrestricted. A positive value skips entries too far from the broken edge, in mean true range captured when the box locks.
- Retest Tolerance — 0.25. The contact area extends 0.25 of that mean true range either side of the edge. Wider tolerance admits near touches but requires farther departure first; zero requires an exact touch or sweep.
