Bryy's Context Panel

246
Bryy’s Context Panel is a compact multi-symbol market context panel built to help traders monitor broader market and sector alignment without leaving their main execution chart.

The indicator checks selected symbols against configurable moving averages and adaptive VWAP, then displays a simple visual status for each metric:

✓ = price is above the selected metric
✕ = price is below the selected metric
- = data is unavailable or the metric is not applicable

The default use case is staying on a futures execution chart while monitoring external ETF context such as SOXX, QQQ, and SPY. This can help traders quickly see whether semiconductor, Nasdaq, and broad-market context are aligned or conflicting.

Main Features:

• Monitor up to 5 custom symbols
• Default focus on SOXX / QQQ / SPY market context
• Configurable SMA or EMA
• Three customizable moving average slots
• Optional custom timeframe per moving average
• Adaptive VWAP logic:
- Intraday charts: RTH Daily VWAP
- Daily charts: Week-Open VWAP
- Weekly charts: Month-Open VWAP
- Monthly+ charts: VWAP hidden in Auto mode
• Horizontal or vertical panel layout
• Adjustable panel size and placement
• Dark, light, and custom color themes
• Designed to be lightweight, clean, and fast

Intended Use:

This indicator is designed as a context scanner, not a buy/sell signal system.

It is meant to help answer questions like:

• Is SOXX supporting or fighting the trade idea?
• Is QQQ aligned with the current futures move?
• Is SPY confirming broader market direction?
• Are key context symbols above or below their short-term, medium-term, and longer-term reference levels?

The goal is to provide quick external market context while keeping the main chart clean.

Important Notes:

For US ETF symbols, the scanner is designed around regular-session context. When used outside regular market hours, values may reflect the most recent regular-session data depending on TradingView’s symbol/session handling.

VWAP depends on volume, so ETF symbols are generally better suited than non-volume index symbols for this tool.

This script does not predict price movement, generate entries, or provide financial advice. It is intended to support discretionary analysis by showing clear market context in a compact panel.

Added an order strength option that uses the same logic as the VWAP in the indicator. Intraday charts show daily strength, daily chart shows weekly strength and weekly chart shows monthly strength

This feature should help us see the context more easily as well

This update expands Bryy’s Context Panel into a more complete multi-symbol market context tool while also addressing loading and reliability issues reported in earlier versions.

The panel combines three related forms of context:

• Moving-average position shows whether each monitored symbol is above or below its selected short-, medium-, and long-term reference levels.

• ATR-based MA distance shows whether price is close to, moderately separated from, or far from each moving average. ATR is calculated on the same timeframe as the corresponding MA, allowing the distance colors to adapt to the symbol’s volatility instead of relying on a fixed percentage or point distance.

• Strength Order ranks the enabled symbols by their performance relative to the previous completed anchor period. Intraday charts compare performance from the previous daily close, daily charts use the previous weekly close, weekly charts use the previous monthly close, and monthly charts use the previous yearly close.

These components are intended to work together. The MA cells show the technical position of each symbol, the distance colors show how extended that position is, and Strength Order shows which symbols are leading or lagging. This allows traders to evaluate broader market and sector alignment without repeatedly opening separate SOXX, QQQ, SPY, or other external charts.

For example, a trader using an NQ execution chart can quickly check whether SOXX, QQQ, and SPY are above or below their selected moving averages, whether those symbols are only slightly separated or strongly extended, and which symbol is currently showing the greatest relative strength.

Changes in this update:

• Added ATR(14)-normalized MA distance colors
• Close distance: less than 0.25 ATR
• Mid distance: 0.25 to less than 0.75 ATR
• Far distance: 0.75 ATR or more
• ATR automatically matches each MA’s selected timeframe
• Added separate customizable Close, Mid, and Far colors for above-MA and below-MA conditions
• Increased detailed horizontal and vertical placement offsets to 10
• Improved color-setting labels and tooltips
• Simplified unavailable-data handling with a fixed gray error state
• Added historical request limits to reduce unnecessary processing
• Improved loading speed when changing symbols or timeframes
• Addressed cases where the panel could disappear or fail to redraw after a chart reload

The indicator remains a context scanner rather than an entry or exit signal. Its purpose is to combine cross-market trend position, volatility-adjusted MA distance, anchored relative strength, and adaptive VWAP information in one compact panel.

This update replaces the previous checkmark/X display with ATR-based distance tiers for both moving averages and VWAP.

— = nearly touching
I = close
II = moderate distance
III = far
IV = extremely far

Green and red backgrounds continue to show whether price is above or below the level, while the Roman numerals show how extended price is relative to ATR(14). Optional advanced tier colors are also available for users who prefer stronger visual separation.

This update improves the indicator’s momentum-ranking system while simplifying the overall feature set.

The former Strength Rows have been clarified as Momentum Rows. Each enabled row ranks SOXX, QQQ, and SPY by raw percentage performance over M5, M15, H1, 1D, or 1W. Intraday rows use real elapsed market time rather than chart candles, with an asterisk shown when the selected window is still incomplete after the market opens. Differences of 0.01 percentage points or less are displayed as ties.

A tooltip was added to explain that these rows measure short-term or anchored momentum—not MA/VWAP structure—and are not adjusted for differences in volatility between symbols.

A new Bold Text option was also added under Style, allowing all panel text to be displayed in bold without adding any additional market-data requests or meaningful performance cost.

The indicator has also been streamlined by removing unused symbol slots and other redundant features. It now focuses on three core symbols, uses fewer data requests, and keeps the panel easier to configure and read.
