🟠 OVERVIEW

Trend Continuations [AlgoAlpha] identifies potential trend continuation opportunities by combining an adaptive regression midline with volatility-based support and resistance bands. It helps traders track the prevailing trend, locate pullback areas, and identify when price resumes moving in the trend direction.

Unlike fixed-length moving averages, the adaptive midline uses linear regression over a changing lookback period determined by confirmed price pivots. This allows the reference line to respond to changes in market structure while reflecting the broader direction of price.

The indicator places volatility-based bands above and below this midline. Only the band relevant to the active trend is displayed, creating a dynamic area where traders can monitor pullbacks and potential continuation signals.

🟠 CONCEPTS

  • Adaptive Regression Midline — A linear regression line calculated from closing prices. Its lookback period adjusts based on the distance from the latest confirmed pivot, up to 5,000 bars. This creates a reference line that adapts to changes in price structure.
  • Pivot-Based Adaptation — Pivot highs and lows are identified using a configurable number of bars on each side. Once a pivot is confirmed, its position determines the regression lookback period. Longer periods reflect more price history, while shorter periods respond more closely to recent movements.
  • Trend Confirmation — The midline's direction is compared with a fast Hull Moving Average (HMA). A rising midline is bullish when the HMA is above it, while a falling midline is bearish when the HMA is below it. Disagreement produces a neutral midline color.
  • Volatility Bands — Upper and lower bands are calculated by adding or subtracting an Average True Range (ATR) multiple from the adaptive midline. Their distance expands during higher volatility and contracts during lower volatility. Both bands remain anchored to the midline.
  • Trend Direction — The active trend follows a band-switching method. During an uptrend, the lower band acts as dynamic support. During a downtrend, the upper band acts as dynamic resistance. The direction changes when price closes beyond the opposite band.
  • Bounce Confirmation — A bullish bounce occurs when price touches or moves below the previous bullish inner zone and closes back above it. A bearish bounce follows the opposite condition. Signals require an established trend and a confirmed candle close.

🟠 FEATURES

  • Adaptive Trend Midline — Displays a regression-based reference line that changes color according to trend direction and HMA confirmation. Green indicates bullish alignment, red indicates bearish alignment, and gray indicates neutral conditions.

  • Dynamic Support and Resistance Bands — Displays the lower band during bullish trends and the upper band during bearish trends, with their positions adjusted to market volatility.

  • Shaded Bounce Zones — Highlights the active band with layered shading to make potential pullback and reaction areas easier to identify.
    스냅샷
  • Trend Continuation Signals — Displays green upward triangles below bullish bounce zones and red downward triangles above bearish bounce zones when a pullback meets the confirmation conditions.

  • Chart Customization and Alerts — Includes optional pivot markers, candle coloring, signal visibility, zone shading, and alerts for bullish or bearish bounces and trend changes.

🟠 HOW TO USE

  • Identify the Trend — Observe the active band and midline color. A lower green band with a rising green midline suggests bullish conditions. An upper red band with a falling red midline suggests bearish conditions.
  • Monitor Pullbacks — During bullish trends, watch for price to return toward the lower shaded band. During bearish trends, watch for price to approach the upper shaded band. These areas represent potential continuation zones rather than guaranteed reversal levels.
  • Confirm Continuation Signals — Look for a green upward triangle after price tests the bullish zone and closes back above its inner edge. For bearish setups, look for a red downward triangle after price tests the bearish zone and closes back below its inner edge.
  • Watch for Trend Changes — A close below the lower band during an uptrend switches the active direction to bearish. A close above the upper band during a downtrend switches it to bullish. Use these changes to reassess the current trend.
  • Interpret Neutral Conditions — A gray midline indicates that the regression direction and fast HMA are not aligned, or that a clear direction is unavailable. Consider waiting for stronger alignment before acting on continuation setups.
  • Adjust Pivot Length — Increase the Pivot Length to use more widely spaced confirmed pivots for regression resets. Decrease it to allow more frequent resets based on smaller price swings.
  • Adjust Band Sensitivity — Increase the Band Multiplier to move the bands farther from the midline and require larger price movements for direction changes. Decrease it to bring the bands closer and make them more sensitive to price movements.
  • Configure Alerts — Create TradingView alerts for bullish bounces, bearish bounces, either bounce direction, or bullish and bearish trend changes. Bounce signals are confirmed at candle close.

🟠 CONCLUSION

Trend Continuations [AlgoAlpha] combines pivot-adaptive linear regression, Hull Moving Average confirmation, and ATR-based trend bands to identify potential continuation setups. It provides traders with a changing trend reference, defined pullback zones, and confirmed bounce signals to help assess trend direction and continuation opportunities.
