PRO Session Volume Profile & Levels [Artio]

SESSION VOLUME PROFILE & LEVELS [ARTIO]
Understand market sessions, volume distribution, and key price levels — all in one clean chart.
Session Volume Profile & Levels [Artio] is an open-source TradingView indicator designed for traders who want a clearer understanding of how price and volume interact across global trading sessions.
Instead of cluttering the chart with countless lines and signals, it combines session Volume Profiles, Point of Control (POC), Value Area High (VAH), Value Area Low (VAL), session ranges, and historical level tracking into one customizable market analysis tool.
Designed for intraday trading, scalping, price action, and market structure analysis.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
KEY FEATURES
◆ MULTI-SESSION ANALYSIS
Automatically identifies and visualizes major global trading sessions:
• Asian Session (AS)
• London Session (LN)
• New York Session (NY)
• US Afternoon Session (PM)
• London Pre-New York Snapshot
Every session has its own customizable box, Volume Profile, price range, and key volume levels.
Session times are configurable and use regional time zones with automatic daylight saving adjustments.
◆ SESSION VOLUME PROFILES
Each session displays an independent horizontal Volume Profile, helping traders identify where trading activity was concentrated.
Key reference levels:
• POC — Point of Control: the highest-volume price level.
• VAH — Value Area High: the upper boundary of the value area.
• VAL — Value Area Low: the lower boundary of the value area.
The default Value Area is 70%, a commonly used reference in Volume Profile analysis.
Available visualization modes:
• Total Volume
• Up/Down Volume
• Up/Down Volume + Delta
Profile width, position, transparency, colors, and price resolution are fully customizable.
◆ EXTENDED LEVELS & HISTORICAL TRACKING
Important levels remain visible after their originating session ends.
Each extended line can display a compact identifier:
• AS-POC — Asian Session Point of Control
• LN-VAH — London Value Area High
• NY-VAL — New York Value Area Low
• PM-POC — US Afternoon Point of Control
This makes it easy to identify which session created a level, even several sessions later.
Extended levels can:
• Stop at the first observed test.
• Continue to the latest processed price.
• Be disabled individually.
• Display their session origin, date, and price.
The indicator tracks subsequent price interactions, including touches, crosses, holds, and returns.
These events describe observed price behavior. They do not prove the execution of hidden stop orders.
◆ LONDON PRE-NEW YORK CONTEXT
London and New York trading sessions overlap.
The optional London Pre-NY snapshot preserves London's range and Volume Profile immediately before the configured New York trading window begins.
This provides a historical reference that was actually available when New York started, rather than using information calculated later.
◆ HISTORICAL MARKET STRUCTURE
Analyze previous sessions without losing the current market context.
Features include:
• Historical coverage settings up to 180 calendar days.
• Independent controls for Asia, London, NY, and PM.
• Adjustable number of detailed Volume Profiles.
• Customizable extended POC, VAH, and VAL levels.
• Clean historical session boxes.
• Automatic and manual profile extension controls.
Actual historical depth depends on available TradingView data, account limits, and Pine Script drawing restrictions.
◆ CLEAN AND CUSTOMIZABLE CHART
The indicator is designed to keep price action visible.
• Volume Profiles displayed behind price candles.
• Clear session boundaries.
• Compact session labels.
• Distinct POC, VAH, and VAL colors.
• Optional extended-line identifiers.
• Adjustable colors and transparency.
• Optional daily and session VWAP.
• No mandatory dashboard.
• No additional chart pane required.
The default interface prioritizes market structure and volume distribution rather than visual noise.

HOW TO USE THE INDICATOR
1) IDENTIFY THE SESSION STRUCTURE
Observe how Asia, London, and New York establish their respective trading ranges, highs, lows, and volume distributions.
2) LOCATE IMPORTANT VOLUME LEVELS
Use POC, VAH, and VAL to identify previously active price areas and potential zones of acceptance or rejection.
3) TRACK INTERACTIONS BETWEEN SESSIONS
Study how London approaches Asian levels, or how New York interacts with levels established earlier in the trading day.
4) EVALUATE BREAKOUTS AND FAILED MOVES
Observe whether price holds beyond a completed session range or returns inside it after a breakout.
5) MAINTAIN HISTORICAL CONTEXT
Track relevant levels from previous sessions instead of analyzing the current session in isolation.
6) COMBINE WITH YOUR TRADING STRATEGY
Session levels can provide useful context for:
• Intraday trading and scalping.
• Breakout and retest analysis.
• Support and resistance identification.
• Volume-based market structure.
• Price acceptance and rejection.
• Session-to-session price behavior.
• Liquidity-related price action observations.
A level being touched or crossed is not, by itself, a trading signal.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
OPTIONAL ADVANCED TOOLS
Additional features include:
• Developing Volume Profiles and Value Areas.
• Session and daily VWAP.
• Historical level interaction records.
• Price-action return and retest observations.
• Optional Trade Map and Audit panels.
• Configurable confirmation rules.
• Directional conflict checks.
• Adjustable invalidation conditions.
• Optional confirmed-retest alerts on the 1-minute chart.
• Session volume activity comparisons.
The dashboard is disabled by default and can be enabled when additional context is needed.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
DATA AND COMPATIBILITY
The indicator processes available one-minute data and supports standard time-based charts from 1 minute to 1 hour.
Volume Profile calculations use TradingView footprint information when available, with an explicitly identified OHLCV approximation where applicable.
IMPORTANT: This edition requires TradingView Premium or Ultimate because its script requests footprint data, even when a proxy profile mode is selected.
TradingView footprint delta uses the platform's volume classification methodology and should not be confused with direct exchange aggressor-side order-flow data.
Volume information depends on the selected chart's data provider.
For example, CFD volume should not be interpreted as identical to centralized COMEX futures contract volume.
Default settings were developed around gold futures trading. The indicator can also be adapted to other financial instruments by adjusting session times, profile resolution, and relevant parameters.
