Open Range Veltrix

187
Open Range Veltrix is a free indicator that combines a New York opening range, a frozen opening-direction filter and an ordered breakout/retest/EMA200 entry signal. Its purpose is to keep these steps separate and visible, with one morning signal and reference risk levels. The default distances are intended for a NAS100 setup.

Use regular 1-minute candles for signals. A 5-minute chart is supported for viewing the opening candle, but entry signals are disabled there. Other intervals and nonstandard chart types are rejected.

Opening range and EMA colors

The indicator marks the completed 09:30-09:35 New York five-minute candle. Its high is green and its low is red. All session times use America/New_York, including daylight-saving changes.

At 09:35, the completed five-minute candle's EMA50/EMA200/EMA800 alignment fixes the day's permitted direction and target category:

- Green: EMA50 > EMA200 > EMA800. BUY only; default target 250 pips.
- Red: EMA50 < EMA200 < EMA800. SELL only; default target 250 pips.
- Blue: every other ordering. Either direction is eligible; default target 100 pips.

This opening snapshot uses five-minute EMAs. The plotted EMA50, EMA200 and EMA800 use the current chart interval: on the signal chart, they are live one-minute EMAs. EMA50 is light blue, EMA200 is white, and EMA800 is green, red or dark blue according to their current alignment. Their live color can differ from the frozen opening direction. Later colors do not change the opening permission or the target category.

Entry sequence

1. Breakout: a completed one-minute candle closes above the opening high for BUY or below the opening low for SELL.
2. Retest: a strictly later completed candle touches that boundary with its high/low range. No additional candle-body color or reclaim-close requirement is imposed.
3. EMA200 touch: on a still-later candle, an observed live price comes within one minimum tick of EMA200 or crosses it between two eligible updates in the same candle. The alert fires when that observed condition occurs; it does not wait for the entry candle to close.

The breakout candle cannot also be the retest, and the retest candle cannot also be the entry. A return inside the opening range does not automatically erase a recorded breakout. For a blue opening, the first completed breakout/retest sequence chooses the side; if both sides retest together, the older breakout wins. The selected side then stays fixed.

The range supplies the reference boundaries, the opening alignment limits direction, the confirmed breakout/retest establishes the setup, and EMA200 supplies its later entry timing. This ordered workflow is the reason these components are combined.

At most one entry signal is allowed per New York weekday. Live entry signals must occur before 12:00 New York. Loading the indicator during an open candle does not create an entry merely because that candle had an earlier wick through EMA200.

Reference risk levels

Defaults are SL 100 pips, TP 250 pips for a green/red opening or 100 pips for blue, and a break-even trigger of 60 pips. The entry reference is the price observed when the signal fires. SL, TP and the BE trigger are drawn from that reference. A later observed favorable move reaching the BE trigger moves the displayed stop guide to the entry reference.

Distance inputs are editable. The default conversion is 1 pip = 1.0 index price point; this is an explicit setting, not a universal broker pip definition. Check the conversion before using another instrument.

The optional 15:00 New York reminder asks you to close any remaining position from the day's signal. It runs on the first available update at or after that time, so missing updates can delay it.

Alerts and phone notifications

Add the indicator to a regular 1-minute chart. Create one TradingView alert, select this indicator and choose "Any alert() function call". Enable app notifications in the alert dialog for phone delivery. Keep the indicator's BUY/SELL alert option enabled; enable the close reminder if wanted.

Entry messages include BUY/SELL, symbol, observed entry reference, EMA200, SL and TP prices/distances, BE trigger, opening color and pip conversion. The same running alert covers both directions and the enabled session reminder. Recreate the alert after changing the script, symbol, interval or inputs if those changes should affect the running alert.

Display and execution limits

Historical bars do not provide the observed realtime tick sequence. Historical entry markers use candle-range overlap with the closing EMA200 and use the candle close as a reference; historical BE guides use later closes. These approximations can differ from live alerts and references after a reload.

This is an indicator, not a strategy backtest or broker execution system. It places no orders, confirms no fills, modifies no broker stops and calculates no trading profit or drawdown. Guides do not determine whether a manually placed trade has closed. The 15:00 message is a reminder, not an automatic close. No holiday, FOMC or other news filter is included.

Version 1.1 — first-touch alert update and break-even reminders

• Uses the completed 09:30–09:35 New York five-minute candle consistently for the opening range and direction/TP lock. On regular one-minute candles, entries still require a confirmed break, a later confirmed retest, then a still-later EMA200 touch.
• Added a reported candle-range fallback to help detect an eligible EMA200 touch between sampled live price updates. LIVE and HIST labels distinguish realtime chart signals from historical reconstruction. Exact chart/server tick timing is not guaranteed.
• Stop-loss and take-profit guides are now thin dotted lines.
• Added a one-time MOVE TO BREAK EVEN alert and a small yellow BE dot above the trigger candle after a favorable 60-point move by default (1 pip = 1 price point). The reminder gives the entry price to use for the stop. Entry and BE can both alert within the same minute.
• Default risk remains SL100, TP250 for green/red opening alignment, TP100 for blue, BE60; all distances remain adjustable. One entry signal per day before noon NY, optional15:00 close reminder.

IMPORTANT FOR EXISTING USERS: refresh/update the indicator on a regular1-minute chart, then recreate your TradingView alert using OR VELTRIX1.1 → Any alert() function call. Enable BUY/SELL alerts and the break-even reminder, plus app/popup/sound notifications as desired. Previously created alerts retain their old script snapshot and do not upgrade automatically.

This is an indicator with reference levels and manual reminders. It cannot see broker positions, detect your actual exits, change stops or place orders. Move the stop only if the trade remains open. Historical BE dots use later candle ranges; entry-candle BE uses only later live price observations. Historical touch/BE reconstruction changed, so previous backtest statistics do not validate v1.1. Native compilation and source checks passed; future live first-touch and BE delivery still require validation.

v1.2 — 9:35 one-minute EMA lock

The 9:30–9:35 a.m. New York five-minute candle sets the opening range, with a green high and red low. At 9:35 a.m., the completed one-minute EMA 50/200/800 alignment locks the direction and default target for the day. Green allows buys only with a 250-point target. Red allows sells only with a 250-point target. Blue allows either direction with a 100-point target. The plotted one-minute EMA 800 color still updates live. If the one-minute candle ending at 9:35 is missing, the indicator skips signals that day.

Use standard one-minute candles for the confirmed break, retest, and first eligible EMA200 touch alert. The five-minute view shows the range. To receive v1.2 entry and break-even notifications, recreate your alert on the updated indicator and choose Any alert() function call.
