Overlay indicator that plots the BCRA's exchange rate band system in effect since April 11, 2025, under the IMF-backed Phase 3 stabilization program.
What are the Bandas Cambiarias?
The BCRA defines a floor and a ceiling for the ARS/USD exchange rate. Between them, the rate floats freely. At the floor the BCRA buys dollars (accumulates reserves); at the ceiling the BCRA sells dollars (defends the band). The rules governing how the bands move differ by phase:
Phase 1 (Apr 11 – Dec 31, 2025): Floor decreases 1%/month, ceiling increases 1%/month — fixed rates, band widens over time.
Phase 2 (Jan 1, 2026 onwards): Both bands adjust monthly by headline CPI with a two-month lag (T-2). The floor decreases by the T-2 inflation rate, the ceiling increases by it.
What the indicator shows
Solid floor and ceiling lines with shaded fill for the floating zone on historical data.
Forward projection split into two visual tiers:
Known projection (solid lines, darker fill) — remainder of the current month plus any full months whose T-2 inflation has already been published by INDEC.
Uncertain projection (dashed lines, lighter fill) — further months using assumed inflation (last known value or your custom estimate).
Info table with current floor, ceiling, band width, CPI values by month, active phase, and projection length. Language toggle (ES/EN).
Alerts when price approaches the floor or ceiling (within 2%) and when it breaks through either band.
CPI inputs and the T-2 lag
Each month's band adjustment uses the CPI figure from two months prior. The indicator provides individual inputs for each known CPI month (Nov 2025 through Jan 2026) and a projected input for Feb 2026 (not yet published). For months beyond that horizon, a single "Future CPI" override applies. If left blank, it defaults to the Feb 2026 estimate.
Mapping: IPC Nov 2025 → Jan 2026 bands, IPC Dec 2025 → Feb 2026 bands, IPC Jan 2026 → Mar 2026 bands, IPC Feb 2026 → Apr 2026 bands.
How to use
Apply to any ARS/USD chart (e.g., BCBA:YPFD for peso-denominated assets, or USDARS). Adjust CPI inputs as new INDEC data is released. Set "Known Full Months Ahead" to reflect how many additional months already have their T-2 CPI published. Tune projection length (1–12 months) and colors to preference.

El BCRA define un piso y un techo para el tipo de cambio ARS/USD. Dentro de la banda el tipo de cambio flota libremente; en el piso el BCRA compra dólares y en el techo los vende. En Fase 1 (Abr–Dic 2025) el piso baja 1% mensual y el techo sube 1% mensual a tasas fijas. En Fase 2 (Ene 2026 en adelante) ambas bandas se ajustan mensualmente por IPC con rezago T-2.
El indicador muestra la zona de flotación histórica con relleno sombreado y proyecta las bandas hacia adelante en dos niveles: proyección conocida (líneas sólidas, meses con IPC T-2 ya publicado) y proyección incierta (líneas punteadas, inflación asumida). Incluye inputs individuales de IPC por mes, tabla informativa con idioma seleccionable (ES/EN), y alertas de proximidad y ruptura de banda.

What are the Bandas Cambiarias?

New: Monthly CPI Adjustment Lines
Starting January 2026, a vertical line appears on the first business day of each month showing the T-2 CPI rate used to calculate that month's band. Known CPI values (already published by INDEC) display as solid cyan lines. Projected values display as dashed orange lines with a "(proy.)" / "(proj.)" suffix. This makes it immediately visible which months rely on real data vs. estimates.
Fix: Projection Certainty Boundary
Corrected the default for "Known Full Months Ahead" from 2 to 1. Previously, April 2026 was drawn with solid lines despite relying on Feb 2026 CPI which hasn't been published yet. Now:
Feb 2026 (rest of month) → solid (uses Dec 2025 IPC ✓)
Mar 2026 → solid (uses Jan 2026 IPC ✓)
Apr 2026 onwards → dashed + lighter fill (uses Feb 2026 IPC, not yet published)
When INDEC publishes Feb 2026 CPI, set "Known Full Months Ahead" to 2 and update the IPC Feb 2026 input with the actual figure.

Nuevo: Líneas de Ajuste Mensual por IPC
Desde enero 2026, aparece una línea vertical en el primer día hábil de cada mes indicando la tasa de IPC T-2 utilizada para calcular la banda de ese mes. Los valores de IPC ya publicados por INDEC se muestran con líneas sólidas en cian. Los valores proyectados se muestran con líneas punteadas en naranja con el sufijo "(proy.)".
Corrección: Límite de Certidumbre de la Proyección
Se corrigió el valor por defecto de "Meses Completos Conocidos Adelante" de 2 a 1. Antes, abril 2026 se dibujaba con líneas sólidas a pesar de depender del IPC Feb 2026 que aún no fue publicado. Ahora:
Feb 2026 (resto del mes) → sólido (usa IPC Dic 2025 ✓)
Mar 2026 → sólido (usa IPC Ene 2026 ✓)
Abr 2026 en adelante → punteado + relleno más claro (usa IPC Feb 2026, no publicado aún)
Cuando INDEC publique el IPC de febrero 2026, cambiar "Meses Completos Conocidos Adelante" a 2 y actualizar el input de IPC Feb 2026 con el dato real.

Update: INDEC published the March 2026 CPI print at 3.4% month-over-month, with year-to-date inflation reaching 9.4%. This figure is now integrated into the indicator as a known value and, through the standard T-2 lag rule, governs the exchange rate band adjustment for May 2026. As a result, May 2026 bands transition from projected (dashed) to known (solid line), extending the confirmed projection horizon by one additional full month. The "Known Full Months Ahead" setting should remain at 1, since June 2026 bands still depend on the April 2026 CPI, which INDEC has not yet released. Bandas Cambiarias Argentina / Argentina FX Bands plots the BCRA's exchange rate band regime introduced on April 11, 2025, as part of Phase 3 of Argentina's stabilization program with the IMF. The system defines a floor and a ceiling for the ARS/USD exchange rate: the rate floats freely inside the band, while the BCRA intervenes at the edges (buying USD at the floor, selling at the ceiling). Phase 1 (Apr–Dec 2025) applied a fixed ±1% monthly adjustment. Built-in alerts fire on proximity (within 2%) and on band breaks. Fully bilingual (ES/EN).
