MHIDa Parabolic-Run Dip

Parabolic-Run Dip is a context indicator that highlights the first pullback below a moving average right after an accelerating up-move loses momentum. It is a visual aid for reading the chart, not a signal, not financial advice and not a standalone system.
WHAT IT DOES
It looks for a "parabolic run": a streak of consecutive up-candles (a candle that closes above the previous close). The run is considered broken on the first candle that does not close higher, confirmed on a closed bar. That break opens a short observation window (shaded in amber). Inside the window, the script marks the first bar that closes clearly below its EMA, which shows the excess of the push starting to unwind.
HOW IT IS CALCULATED
1) Up-streak: a counter that adds 1 on every close above the previous close and resets to 0 otherwise.
2) Run break: the previous bar had a streak of at least N up-bars (default 5) and the current bar is not an up-bar. A downward triangle and a RUN BROKE label are drawn.
3) Armed window: a counter reloads to a set number of bars (default 8) on the break and decreases by one each bar. The background is shaded while it is above zero.
4) Dip level: EMA(20) x (1 - depth/100), with a default depth of 3.5%. It is drawn as a step line.
5) Dip marker: inside the window, the first close below the dip level gets a circle and a DIP label. With "Only the FIRST dip" enabled the window is closed after that first dip; disable it to see every dip in the window.
WHY THESE PARTS TOGETHER
The streak counter, the EMA distance and the time window are not three separate indicators merged for the sake of it: each one is a step of a single idea. First the push (streak), then its exhaustion (break), then the unwinding measured against a reference average (EMA distance), all within a limited time frame (window). Without the window the dip marker would fire on any pullback, with no link to the preceding run.
HOW TO USE IT
Add it to any symbol and timeframe. Look at the amber windows: they show where a run has just ended. A circle inside the window means price has closed well under the EMA for the first time after the run. Use it as context to evaluate together with your own analysis, trend, volume and risk management. Defaults are an educational starting point and everything is adjustable: number of up-bars, dip depth %, window length, EMA length, first-dip-only, labels on/off.
SETTINGS
- Consecutive up-bars (run)
- Dip depth % below EMA
- Window bars (armed duration)
- EMA length
- Only the FIRST dip of the window
- Show labels
ALERT
One optional alert condition (ParaRunDip context) fires on the dip marker. It is a notification for context only, not an order.
NOTES
Markers and labels are drawn only on standard chart types (candles, bars, line, area), never on Heikin Ashi, Renko, Kagi, Point and Figure or Range charts. Pine Script v6. The pattern is an observation, not a proven edge: past behavior does not guarantee future results.
