Trend & Chop Regime Filter [Jireh]

Trend & Chop Regime Filter [Jireh]

OVERVIEW
A regime filter that answers one question on every bar: is the market trending, transitioning, or chopping? It's built to keep you out of low-quality, back-and-forth conditions and focused on the moves that actually follow through.

It draws a channel from a moving average of highs and a moving average of lows, then colors it by regime:
• Green – Trend up
• Red – Trend down
• Blue – Bullish transition
• Pink – Bearish transition
• Gray – Chop

A right-edge label shows the current regime and a 0–100 score. Hover over it for the full breakdown.

HOW IT WORKS
Being inside or outside the channel is only one input. The score combines:
• Slope – direction and steepness of a hidden centerline, normalized by ATR so it works on any market or timeframe.
• Efficiency ratio – net price movement divided by total distance traveled. Clean trends score high, back-and-forth chop scores low.
• Channel crossings – how often price fully crosses the channel. Catches wide, swingy chop that a channel alone misses.
• Fakeouts – closes outside the channel (beyond an ATR buffer) that return inside within a few bars. Each one pulls the score toward chop.
• Compression – channel width and ATR vs. their baseline. A squeeze is shown as transition, not chop, since it often comes before expansion.

Trend inputs raise the score, while crossings and fakeouts apply a penalty. Score ≥ 60 = trend, ≤ 35 = chop, in between = transition (all adjustable). A new regime must hold for a set number of bars before the color changes, and a breakout out of chop must pass through transition before it can be called a trend. Wicks never count, only closes.

HOW TO USE
• Gray: stand aside or reduce size. Setups here often lack follow-through.
• Blue / Pink: a move may be developing. Watch for your entry in that direction.
• Green / Red: trend confirmed.
Use it as a filter alongside your own setups, not as a buy or sell signal.

FEATURES
• Runs on the chart timeframe by default, with an optional higher-timeframe regime (confirmed bars only, no repainting)
• Optional higher-timeframe context in the label (for example "CHOP 24 · 15m ↑")
• Display modes: Minimal (default), Standard (dashboard), Detailed (fakeout markers and higher-timeframe row)
• MA type options: EMA, SMA, WMA, HMA, RMA
• Adjustable weights, thresholds, confirmation bars and fakeout settings
• Optional volume requirement for breakouts
• Optional session shading (for example, lunch hours)
• Full color customization
• Alerts: trend up, trend down, chop, bullish transition, bearish transition, chop-to-trend, and fakeout (use "Once per bar close")

Default settings are tuned for NQ on the 1-minute chart. Adjust channel length and thresholds for other markets and timeframes.

• Magenta – Bearish transition
• Gray – Chop

A right-edge label shows the current regime and a 0–100 score. With higher-timeframe context on, the label splits into two halves: the top shows the chart regime and the bottom shows the higher-timeframe regime, each in its own regime color. Hover over the label for the full breakdown.

HOW IT WORKS
Being inside or outside the channel is only one input. The score combines:
• Slope – direction and steepness of a hidden centerline, normalized by ATR so it works on any market or timeframe.

HOW TO USE

• Blue / Magenta: a move may be developing. Watch for your entry in that direction.

Use it as a filter alongside your own setups, not as a buy or sell signal.

FEATURES
• Runs on the chart timeframe by default, with an optional higher-timeframe regime (confirmed bars only, no repainting)
• Split label showing chart and higher-timeframe regimes side by side in color
• Display modes: Minimal (default), Standard (dashboard), Detailed (fakeout markers and higher-timeframe row)
• Optional candle coloring by regime: bodies only or full candle (body, border and wick). For a clean look, hide the channel lines and fill.
• MA type options: EMA, SMA, WMA, HMA, RMA
• Adjustable weights, thresholds, confirmation bars and fakeout settings
• Optional volume requirement for breakouts
