CL is delivering on the rotation thesis from the prior post. The $96–$98 upper-band rejection landed cleanly, price has rolled back through the middle of the range, and is now drifting toward the $87 floor with the macro framing still intact. RSI sits in the low 40s with its moving average rolling over — momentum aligned with the move, but not yet at oversold extremes. The structural question now narrows to a single level: what happens when price tags the range low.
The Setup ⚙️
The Rotation: The bounce off $87 in late May carried price to the $96–$98 supply band, where the bears defended exactly as the prior post anticipated. The reversal back through the middle of the range has come without any bullish reclaim attempt — momentum has fully shifted to the sellers' side.
The Floor: The $87 range low has been defended on three separate tests since late April, making it the highest-confluence structural pivot on the chart. The bulls desperately need this level to hold one more time to keep the range play alive — a fourth touch without breakdown is what continues the rotation higher.
The Decision: A break of $87 activates the unfinished business from the prior bearish leg. The $84 macro floor sits immediately below, with the $79 deeper liquidity pocket exposed beneath it — both magnets for any sustained breakdown. Each successive test of a defended level chips at the defenders' conviction.
The Roadmap: Primary near-term target sits at $87 — a direct continuation of the rotation now underway. Invalidation: a sustained 1D close above $96 would invalidate the rotational bias and reopen the upper half of the channel. What happens at the floor decides the next chapter — the range survives, or the macro floor finally gets swept.
